Stonnall dog attack: Man dies after being mauled by two dogs yards from terrified kids leaving primary school
A MAN has died after being mauled by two dogs – yards from terrified kids leaving a primary school.
Brave passers-by tried to rip the dogs off the man after they attacked him at around 3.12pm yesterday in Stonall, Staffordshire.
St Peter’s Primary Academy was placed on lockdown, with children prevented from leaving “for safety reasons”.
Emergency services including an air ambulance were scrambled – but it has now been sadly confirmed that the man died from his injuries.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Upon arrival we found a man who had sustained multiple life-threatening injuries and was in a critical condition.
“Ambulance staff administered advanced life support and advanced trauma care to him at the scene.
“Treatment continued en route to Queen Elizabeth Hospital where he was conveyed by land ambulance for further treatment.
“Unfortunately, after arrival at hospital, despite the best efforts it became clear that nothing more could be done to save him he was confirmed deceased.”

A 30-year-old man from the Lichfield area has been arrested on suspicion of having dogs dangerously out of control.
Members of the public tackled one of the dogs after the attack – with the other locked in the owner’s flat.
Police have opened a probe into the incident and are attempting to determine the dog’s breed.
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: “We are investigating after a man received serious injuries after been bitten by two dogs in Stonnall.
“We were called just before 3.15pm this afternoon to Main Street to reports that a man had been attacked by two dogs outside a property. The man has been taken to hospital.
“A number of people helped to try and get the dogs off the man and contained one of the dogs outside. The other was contained within the owner’s flat.
