Celebs Go Dating stars who broke show rules by hooking up together – from secret relationships to steamy romps
IT’S the show that helps unlucky in love celebrities find out where they’ve been going wrong by setting them up with every day people.
And Celebs Go Dating has always had one golden rule: do not date your fellow co-stars.
But over the years this rule has been surprisingly hard for its stars to follow, with some revelling in the naughtiness of breaking it.
We take a look at the celebs who have disappointed the dating experts with saucy forbidden flings.
Gary Lucy and Laura Anderson
The old saying ‘rules are there to be broken’ proved good words to live by for Gary and Laura.
The pair’s romance was the talk of last year’s series with rumours zinging like fireworks, before the pair finally admitted they were an item.
And while it hasn’t been plain-sailing since, the couple had a bitter split earlier this year, there has been a happy ending.
The pair are back together and parents to the first Celebs Go Dating baby, an adorable girl called Bonnie.
Lottie Moss and Adam Collard
This year’s not-so-shocking pairing came in the form of Love Island lothario Adam and social media bad girl Lottie.
Their connection can best be described as love/hate with fiery rows as common as kind words and snogs.
The couple’s on/off romance is still very much up in the air after a blistering finale that saw Lottie’s mum Inger take Adam to task.
She was praised for asking Adam bluntly what his intentions were.
But Lottie remains hopeful of lasting love and told former Chloe Burrows that the pair have a “special connection”.
Tom Zanetti and Sophie Hermann
On paper it was always an unlikely pairing; the Leeds playboy DJ and the Made In Chelsea socialite.
But there was no denying the sparks that flew when Sophie and Tom hit it off on the show in 2021.
Their season was one with a twist, it was amid the coronavirus pandemic and saw the celebs living together in a mansion that gave it an air of Big Brother crossed with Love Island.
They flirted relentlessly in the house before eventually caving in to desire and sharing a steamy kiss.
The romance followed them out into the real world but was ultimately short-lived.
Tempting fate, Sophie told us at the time: “Obviously, we come from very different worlds, and I’m also not completely blind to the fact that we were in this mansion together, but then things are very different once you’re outside of that bubble.”
Stephanie Pratt and Joey Essex
Similarly to the couple above, Towie legend Joey and US beauty Stephanie were always an unlikely couple.
They, too, were overwhelmed by the intensity of the show, quickly falling for one another.
The steamy snogs and smouldering eye contact only took them so far and, just a month after the programme finished airing, the relationship ended.
Joey said afterwards: “I was living for the moment at the time. When you’re with someone you’re happy and then… things change.
“The L-word did get thrown about. I admit that.
Charlotte Dawson and Frankie Cocozza
X Factor badboy Frankie and Les Dawson’s daughter Charlotte were one of the first celebrity couples that CGD inadvertently created.
Their sizzling chemistry had the dating experts concerned, but the couple refused to deny their feelings.
In a memorable series finale, Charlotte turned up to the wrap party in a white wedding dress and declared: “It just had to be Frankie he’s definitely the man for me.”
The singer told her: “I’m buzzing. I think you’re gorgeous and I haven’t had more fun with anyone in ages.”
That is as good as things got for the pair though, and there were no wedding bells after Charlotte accused Frankie of using her to boost his fame.
Both have enjoyed love stories since, with Frankie marrying Bianca Murphy in 2018. The couple had their first child, a boy called Frankie, the following year, but have since separated.
Charlotte has two sons, Noah and Jude, with her fiance Matt Sarsfield.
Demi Sims and Megan Barton-Hanson
Megan and Demi were a couple not many people saw coming at the time, but they soon seemed a perfect match.
However, behind the scenes all was not well. In the real world, the couple had a frank conversation about where they were in life and their three-year age gap was reportedly an issue.
Sources also claimed there was jealously problems to contend with, with Megan struggling with the level of attention that came Demi’s way.
Whatever the truth, the pair made up earlier this year and appeared to be giving things another go.
