Sort Your Life Out star announces cancer diagnosis as she reveals heart-breaking reason she was ‘missing’ from show
SORT Your Life Out star Dilly Carter was missing from last night’s episode of the BBC series.
She took to social media yesterday to explain the heartbreaking reason for her absence following her cancer diagnosis last year.
Dilly, 41, revealed that she was missing from Thursday night’s show, which was filmed back in October 2022, because she was having major surgery to remove her cancer at the time.
Sort Your Life Out Host Stacey Solomon also announced Dilly’s absence at the beginning of the show, explaining that she, Iwan Carrington and Rob Bent would be joined by her friend, ‘cleanfluencer’ Sophie Hinchcliffe, better known as Mrs Hinch, for the week.
In the episode, the team headed to a farmhouse in rural Shropshire to help Essex born and bred Andy and Lianne Farrow and their three kids, Rhys (13), Connor (10) and Amber (6).
They were initially apprehensive at seeing the size of the house, which was very full for the family of five. Iwan even got lost in a Narnia-style cupboard, but they eventually helped the Farrow family get rid of almost half their belongings.
Sophie lent a welcome helping hand — but Stacey, 33, admitted she thought the show might be a bit overwhelming for her friend. But Sophie quickly rolled up her sleeves and helped bring some order to the family’s cleaning routine.
However, Dilly was still very missed in the episode, with Stacey admitting she didn’t do as well as her co-star usually does in the warehouse.
In a now-deleted Instagram story, Dilly spoke about her absence and celebrated the show ahead of last night’s episode.
I haven’t seen any episodes yet so I can’t wait to watch this one,” she said, before adding: “Although it’s bittersweet for me and reminds me of how poorly I was and how much pain I was in when this episode was filmed.”
She continued: “I had just come out of the hospital following major surgery to remove the cancer and my entire reproductive system. I obviously could not film, so I was so grateful someone could step in.
“But I was also so sad to miss it! I can’t believe how far I’ve come since December. It already seems like a lifetime ago already!”
Dilly was diagnosed with womb cancer last year but is doing well after the surgery and radiation.
Sort Your Life Out continues next Thursday at 8pm on BBC One.
