News host faceplants desk after VERY rude slip of the tongue during live report – and co-star makes matter worse
THE Project New Zealand’s Kanoa Lloyd face-planted the desk after a mortifying gaffe in the middle of a live news report.
The newsreader fell prey to a mispronounciation while sharing some important news, which left her co-host and viewers in tears of laughter.
TV presenter’s Kanoa Lloyd and Patrick Gower were the hosts for this week’s The Project New Zealand.
They presented a segment about the reintroduction of three Cadbury Roses flavours, but during the show Kanoa got tongue-tied.
While reading from the autocue the 36-year-old unintentionally messed up her pronunciation of ‘comeback’ and instead said ‘c**box’.
She started the segment by saying: “Longtime fans of Cadbury chocolates will be saying thank you very much with the return of three original flavours.
“After getting ditched in 2018, strawberry creme, orange creme and peppermint creme are making a c**box.”
Quickly realising the mistake she made, Kanoa covered her face in embarrassment while trying to contain her fits of laughter.
Her co-host Patrick couldn’t resist chipping in and clarified: “Comeback is the term I believe.”
He then goaded Kanoa, who at that point was trying her best to keep her composure and teased: “It’s not a nightmare…we are actually on live TV.”
Colleagues over at The Project Australia got wind of the TV blunder and didn’t shy away from taking a friendly jibe at the presenter.
The Project Australia Sam Taunton teased that there was a “truly upsetting and unsettling update from the confectionary world.”
He then played the viral clip of Kanoa and quipped: “Oh no. Oh boy those sound hard to swallow.”
The studio audience gasped, and laughed at his cheeky joke.
This isn’t the first time the panel talk show has had its host slip up while live on air with a notable awkward TV moment happening about a decade ago.
In 2012, The Project Australia host presenter Carrie Bickmore accidentally dropped another rude word while trying to pronounce airline Qantas.
At the time Carrie said: “Virgin’s targeting key corporate routes hoping to win over C***-tas, excuse me, Qantas customers.”
She realised her mistake right away and looked shocked at what had come out of her mouth.
Her then co-host Charlie Pickering didn’t miss a beat and quipped: “That address you’ll need is YouTube.com.”
The host later apologised on social media, and jokingly penned: “Any publicity is good publicity right??!! Sorry Qantas Airways and my nan.”
