Beloved property show returning to Channel 4 this month with ‘roller coaster’ new series
CHANNEL 4 has announced a beloved property show is returning – and fans don’t have to wait long.
Grand Designs is back and this time will feature ‘cutting edge’ architectural designs and crazy personal stories that will stun viewers.
With more than 200 episodes, the property show features Britain’s most unique, creative, unusual architectural home-building projects.
The new season kicks off on Wednesday, 27th September, at 9pm on Channel 4.
Fans will be delighted to know that Kevin McCloud, who has hosted since its very first episode over 20 years ago, is also back.
The 64-year-old will be visiting multiple building project sites around the UK, giving viewers an insight into his unique perspective while guiding them through beautiful buildings.
Fans of the show will first be taken to Wye Valley in episode one, where there’s a wild, ambitious conversion of a much-loved steam train water reservoir.
During the last season, Kevin hosted Grand Design: On the Streets and investigated some of Britain’s most ambitious self-building projects, following determined individuals as they attempted to build their own dream home.
During one episode, he met Jonathan, who was building a home with an experimental new system of wooden boxes held together with bolts.
In another, he met with Richard and Sophie Hawkes’ who planned to break records in an architectural first in Britain by planning to build an unsupported arch over the whole property.
The presenter described the project as “lunacy” and couldn’t believe the pair’s plan, but it was implemented nonetheless.
The couple were left devastated when the arch collapsed halfway through the building process.
Grand Designs will air on Wednesday, 27th September, at 9 pm on Channel 4.
