Mum shares her new ‘bed’ out of chests of drawers – it’s so high her kid has to VAULT into it & has people panicking
A CRAFTY mum has left social media users panicking after sharing a snap of her new bed that’s been made of four IKEA chests of drawers.
The savvy parent, from Edinburgh, Scotland, took to Facebook to proudly reveal the DIY project – however, it was soon slammed as being unsafe.
According to the mum, who shared a photo of the ‘bed’ on the Ikea tips, hacks and more!, the bedroom essential consisted of a mattress, as well as the star of the show – four chests of drawers she had nabbed earlier.
All chuffed with the results, the mum wrote in the post: ”we done the IKEA bed hack for my daughters bedroom [sic]!
”She absolutely loves it.”
What’s more, not only was her kid all over the moon with the crafty bed, it also came with an ”unreal” amount of storage space for clothes and other bits, she added.
After going viral on the platform, the mum also shared how she achieved this look, writing: ”we have created a breathable base for the mattress to sit ontop of with plenty underneath support, it is very secure, doesn’t slide around or hasn’t done so far [sic].”
She went on, joking: ” Il be sure to let yous know if I hear a bang through the night and find her on the floor [sic].”
Although the parent’s also provided a small stepping stool that stores under the other side, the daughter rarely uses it – she much more prefers to ”vault into it”.
However, as much as her child might enjoy the new sleeping situation, the reaction on social media was mixed – and not everyone approved of the idea.
One person, for instance, reckoned: ”This doesn’t look good or seem safe. Just being honest.”
Someone else agreed, wondering: ”How’s the mattress attached? Looks unsafe.”

”This gives me bad anxiety,” a third chimed in.
Luckily for the mum, there were also heaps of those who not only hit back at the critics but also raved about the DIY construction.
”I think it looks great and it is functional. And she loves it for sure.
”Good job,” one fan of the idea thought.
Another penned: ”I wish I had this when I was a teen.
”Always tried convincing my mom to do something like this instead of a bunk bed, but had to settle.”
”What on earth are people on about?! This is cute and it looks like it gives nice storage. Obviously for an older kid,” a Facebook user pointed out.
