Car firm discontinues Brits’ favourite motor in move towards ‘electric model’ – as another vehicle tops sales chart
A CAR firm have discontinued Britain’s favourite motor as sales for the company’s new hybrid vehicle skyrocket.
The company’s recently released car has been a hit with motor heads.
Ford’s Puma hybrid motor topped the best-selling car chart in August as sales for the SUV continued to soar.
The popular manufacturer has switched its focus to the supply of the hugely popular Puma, with 3,570 Pumas sold throughout April.
The model is the third highest sold motor in 2023.
It comes after sales for the nation’s favourite Ford Fiesta ended in July this year.
The Ford Fiesta was a fixture on British roads for nearly half a century, after hitting the production line in 1976.
It topped Britain’s annual sale charts 16 times, and has been hailed as Britain’s favourite vehicle.
Over 4.8million models were sold in the UK – globally, 22million have been sold.
The sporty ST models in particular are set to become classics, as they’ll increase in rarity in the coming years.
However, the motor’s rabit popularity means it’s unlikely to disappear from roads anytime soon, as one expert predicts fans will flock to used dealerships to snag a Fiesta wherever they can.
James Hind, CEO of Cinch, said: “Given the fact people are still searching for it on our platform – and with no signs of demand from consumers slowing down – it’ll remain popular in the used car market for some time to come.”
Alex Buttle, co-founder of website Motorway, said high demand for the Ford Fiesta is expected to continue.
He explained: “It’s a testament to the popularity of this timeless model.
“The ceasing of production of new Ford Fiestas may mean the end of an era, but the used-car market will continue breathing life into this much sought-after car for years ahead.”
