ITV confirms return of legendary game show as celebrity host gushes ‘I can’t wait!’
ITV has confirmed the return of an iconic gameshow – with a celebrity host gushing, “I cant’ wait.”
Having been on our screens since 1980, the legendary entertainment programme is a fan-favourite.
But it’s now been revealed that, another series of Family Fortunes has been commissioned by ITV, so it will soon return to screens.
The game sees two families go head-to-head to name the most popular answer to survey-based questions posed to 100 people, with a chance to win a £30,000 jackpot.
Through a series of rounds, contestants are put on the spot to think of answers quickly, often resulting in some unique and hilarious television moments.
Gino D’Acampo is also set to return as host of the rebooted game show, having taken over from Vernon Kay.
Gino’s humorous and unique presenting style makes Family Fortunes an outstanding family entertainment show on ITV’s weekend prime time schedule.
Talking about the exciting news, he said: “I had so much fun filming the last series of Family Fortunes, so I can’t wait to be back in the studio to film 10 new episodes.
“The contestants are at the heart of the show and the success of each series is really down to the wonderful families that take part. I’m looking forward to hearing all the interesting and silly answers – I have a feeling this series will be the best one yet.”
Applications have opened for the new series, with filming set to take place in September and October.
The show ran from 1980 until 2002, with Les Dennis being at the helm during its most successful years.
ITV execs revived the format in 2006 with a celebrity edition and Kay on hosting duties.
That was cancelled in 2015, but the channel offered it a second chance in 2021 by reintroducing the civilian run.
