The Chase’s Anne Hegerty admits two failed stints on rival game show – and looks VERY different in unearthed pics
THE Chase’s Anne Hegerty has revealed that she made two failed appearances on a rival game show – and she looks drastically different in unearthed pictures that have been released.
The beloved quiz master has become a staple on the long-running ITV quiz show.
Anne is recognised for her strong general knowledge, but The Chase viewers may be surprised to learn that she once struggled on a popular game show.
In a recent interview, the quiz master opened up about her less than stellar Mastermind appearance.
The star, who was working as a journalist at the time, went on the BBC quiz show for the first time in 1987.
She was faced with the expert topic: The Life and Works of Lorenz Hart, the famed lyricist.
But, the Chaser, known as The Governess admitted: “I wasn’t that good.”
“I wasn’t that good at Mastermind. I’ve been on it twice and lost both times,” she exclusively told Express.co.uk at the Virgin Media Television autumn schedule launch.
Throwback photos of Anne on Mastermind have also been shared on X, formerly known as Twitter by a fan account.
With a frizzy curly bob haircut and oversized vintage glasses, the TV personality looks drastically different in the photos.
Anne is also donning a oversized fitted rainbow coloured dress.
A screenshot shows her sitting on the renowned chair with Anne replying to the tweet.
“Recorded late in 1987 – on the same night as the King’s Cross fire, as it happens,” she penned.
Fans were left stunned by the unearthed images of Anne, with many commenting on how different she looked.
One wrote: “I can’t believe that is you!”
A second added: “OMG you look so funny.”
A third penned: “You look so different wow!”
Anne jokingly replied: “I look pretty funny now!”
