I was a major BBC host and now have a VERY different job after a horrible time at broadcaster
FORMER BBC host Joanna Gosling has revealed the truth behind her huge career change after a ‘horrible’ time at the broadcaster.
Joanna, 52, was one of three journalists who left the channel earlier this year following the BBC’s plan to merge its international and UK news channels.
Joanna has been with the broadcaster for 23 years, but took voluntary redundancy alongside David Eades and Tim Willcox.
Following her emotional final broadcast in January, Joanna has moved on to a new role on Classic FM and another away from the world of journalism as a Senior Associate Mediator at legal and financial advisor firm Irwin Mitchell.
Speaking about her exit from the BBC Joanna said: “That was an extremely difficult time and I really felt like there should have been more collaborative conversations than were going on at that time.
“I also got divorced, so obviously, I had that midlife change also and that awareness of what goes on with that.”
Having spent so long with the BBC, Joanna tried to see the major changes being brought in as an opportunity.
She added to The Telegraph: “I knew that I needed to do this, I was done with what I had been doing, I’d been doing it for 30 years.
“I’d absolutely loved it but it was definitely time to do something different.”
Joanna’s role at Irwin Mitchell was revealed last month with a tweet reading: “We’re delighted to welcome @JoannaGTWeets, joining Irwin Mitchell as a Senior Associate #Mediator.
“The former BBC News presenter is passionate about mediation and supporting clients and will be working with our #FamilyTeam to grow our mediation practice.”
Joanna was quoted as saying: “I am passionate about helping people find a way through conflict. To be able to do this work as part of the brilliant and caring family team at Irwin Mitchell is a dream come true.”
She added: “I am passionate about the use of mediation to resolve conflict and transform relationship dynamics. If you want me to mediate for you, you know where to find me! I will continue to present my Sunday show on Classic FM.”
