My friends and I were broke so we built a 160-acre off-grid homestead on our own mountain – now it makes us $30k/month
THE founders of a 160-acre off-grid homestead have revealed how they turn a profit.
But the formerly “broke” brothers said they are now making $30,000 a month from their mountainside oasis.
TikTokers Jaymie and Shelby Friesen (@livingtheoffgriddream) said they were able to turn unurbanized land into their slice of heaven.
“We were stressed out about money, couldn’t afford a place in the city,” they said in a viral TikTok video.
They said it took three months to buy the 160 acres, which includes their own mountain.
“We set up solar power, dug a well for water; we built guest stays, a retreat center, a community, and a farm to feed us all,” they said.
The brothers started creating their plan in 2020.
“We were broke and $40,000 in credit card debt,” they said.
“We couldn’t afford a home in the city and the world was going a little crazy,” they added.
Jaymie and Shelby claimed they “found over 10 creative ways to raise funds.”
Within six months, the land generated enough profit to cover it’s building costs.
The brothers admitted that it “hasn’t been easy” but they’ve “helped over 2,000 people do this so far.”
The Friesen brothers chose to live an alternative lifestyle because they wanted to be “self-sufficient.”
“Mental and chronic illness is doubling every generation. Homeownership is becoming a distant dream,” they said.
“Our soil is turning to dust,” they continued. “Our food is being sprayed with things they won’t even let me talk about online.”
They wanted to get “back to the land and thrive.”
Jaymie and Shelby said they didn’t want anything fancy. They just want their “own spot to live a good life.”
They said: “That’s exactly what’s needed right now.”
Their project is called Live The Off-Grid Dream.
