I’ve filled my entire garden with Christmas decorations including 28 inflatables… here’s touching reason why
A WOMAN has revealed the touching reason why she will be covering her garden with inflatable Christmas decorations.
Hollie Trewartha, from Blackwood, Wales, will bring in the Christmas cheer early this year as she braces for the biting winter months.
The 31-year-old suffers from a lung condition, and her symptoms will worsen as temperatures start to fall.
Hollie’s annual tradition, which started during lockdown, also began as a way to bring joy to her two young children and neighbours.
The festive period is an emotional one for Hollie, who has suffered heart-wrenching losses in the run-up to Christmas.
She said: “I lost my brother [several years ago] and my grandmother last year and now I’m ill with emphysema – which is what my brother had.
“Because of that, I’ve had to put the decorations up early because I won’t be able to breathe well in the colder months coming.”
Hollie says she has spared no expense this year, but there are still a couple of finishing touches before the layout is ready.
She said: “This year I have gone extreme, I’ve got over 28 inflatables and I’ve got loads of sets of lights out.
“It’s mostly done but I still have some bits left to do – such as putting up lights. I have to wait for someone to come and help me put those up.”
The tradition will have a deeper meaning this year, as Hollie’s granddad has been unwell.
She said: “My granddad lives next door and I’ve put stuff in the garden to give him a lift because he’s unwell with cancer – he will be able to see it from his window.
“We are a very Christmas-oriented family.”
