Strictly fans spot ‘clue’ behind Les Dennis’s quick elimination saying ‘he didn’t want to be there’
STRICTLY Come Dancing fans have advanced a bizarre theory that Les Dennis never intended to last long on the show.
After Saturday’s live show, the first Strictly elimination of the series saw Family Fortunes star Les, 69, selected to go head-to-head with Nikita Kanda in a dance-off after coming in bottom of the public vote.
But it was Nikita that the judges unanimously decided to save on the hit BBC One show, leaving Les waltzing out of the competition.
Now fans have come up with their own conspiracy theories – with some suggesting that the TV presenter was only booked for a short stint because he is set to appear in Beauty and the Beast Pantomime in early December.
One sceptical viewer wrote: “I’m signing on more and more to the conspiracy theory that he was booked to be a big name but not be that involved.
“He’s got panto booked. You can’t do both.
“He’s such a natural showman but he really didn’t look like he wanted to be there.
“I really do think he had an agreement he’d only go so far and if he manages to stay, they’d play an injury card. Poor Nancy though.”
While another speculated: “I know every year there are dancing celebrities who aren’t that good. However, Dennis is so old and so out of shape, appearing to lack any dancing experience, the most logical reason for his inclusion was it was done deliberately to make him look stupid.
“They might have just not bothered filling his slot and giving the couples an extra week off voting!”
A third commented: “I understand that the BBC can’t just include 30 and 40-somethings. However, there are lots of men in their 60s who are still fit and can move around. Dennis seems an odd choice unless he was a deliberate joke candidate.”
But other fans were less convinced and blamed his lack of technical abilities for his swift exit.
One said: “No he was just s***. It wasn’t even funny, it was cringe worthy. Nancy is probably thrilled she doesn’t have to dance with him again.”
A second echoed and shared: “I’ve never before actively wished for someone to be voted out, but I really wanted Les gone just so that Nancy wouldn’t have to go through that for another week.
