My 56-year-old mom and I look identical and wear matching outfits every day – we’re constantly mistaken for sisters
A MOTHER and daughter who look identical have worn matching outfits every day, constantly getting mistaken for sisters.
Catherine Galasso-Vigorito, 56, and her daughter, Gabriella, 23, have been doubling up on clothes since Gabriella was a baby.
Catherine would buy the same outfit for herself and her three daughters as it was often easier, and she found it fun.
While her daughters Lauren, 24, and Sophia, 18, didn’t enjoy looking the same as their mom, Gabriella loved it and now the inseparable pair continue to match and are the exact same size.
They both love a glamorous look — always stepping out in matching dresses and heels — and recently both walked in New York Fashion Week.
“We’re always matching,” said Gabriella, a cosmetologist, model, and content creator from Clinton, Connecticut.
“It’s different and causes a stir wherever we go. We’re both upbeat and bubbly.
“We both do everything together. We get our nails done together. We go shopping, we travel together, and we create a vision board together.”
Mom Catherine, an author, said people mistake them for sisters.
“We look the exact same. We are the exact same size,” she gushed.
“We’re bonded by our clothes as well as our hearts.”
Catherine would buy the same outfits for all of her daughters and often herself when they were younger.
She said: “In many ways, it was easier to get two or three matching dresses in different sizes. If we went to the park, I could go: ‘There they are.’
“It gives us a very close bond.”
Gabriella and Catherine are both a US size zero, wear US 7.5 shoes, and are five-foot-five and five-foot-six, respectively.
Catherine said: “We have the same measurements.”
The pair describe their style as “bougie.”
“That means fabulous,” Gabriella explained.
“We love wearing pink, bright colors, and anything sparkly.”
Catherine added: “We like glamorous dresses.”
The pair will match every day they can — except for days when Gabriella has to wear black for her job at a salon — and even have matching robes.
Catherine said: “We’ve always been very close. We have always matched. It’s just a lot of fun.
“We both love fashion. I go to the store see something I like and always buy one for my daughter too.”
The pair recently walked in a show in New York Fashion Week together and spent the week donning formal dresses.
Gabriella said: “I said I wanted to audition for fashion week and mom said: ‘Let me do it, too.’
“We wore beautiful, purple dresses with big, puffy sleeves. We even matched the event — which was purple.
“Walking out in matching sparkly dresses and stilettos, people weren’t discreet taking photos.”
The pair are constantly mistaken for sisters – due to their identical looks, even down to their dress size.
Catherine said: “I love being mistaken for 30 years younger than I am. I love it.”
Gabriella is usually the one to pick out their outfits and always does her mom’s hair and make-up — just like hers.
Catherine said: “We use the same products.”
Catherine loves being able to achieve her dreams with her daughter at her side.
She said: “My time is just beginning — and I’m getting to do them with my daughter.
“I don’t want to be defined by any number. I want to inspire other people that it’s never too late to achieve your dreams and goals.”
The duo hopes to design a clothing or jewelry line together in the future and match on the red carpet together.
Gabriella hopes to follow in the footsteps of her mom, a former Miss Connecticut USA — and is being coached by her.
