Boy, 13, ADMITS causing death of gran, 60, after he mowed her down using her own car
A SCHOOLBOY has admitted causing the death of a grandmother after he mowed her down with her own car.
Marcia Grant, 60, was trapped after she was struck by the vehicle as it reversed out of her driveway in Sheffield in April.
A 13-year-old boy appeared at Sheffield Crown Court today where he admitted a charge of causing death by dangerous driving.
The teen, who was 12 at the time, previously admitted possession of bladed article, which was specified as a kitchen knife.
He was due to go on trial this week charged with murder but his alternative plea today was accepted by prosecutors.
The boy, who legally can’t be named, will be sentenced on December 1.
Police were scrambled to the Greenhill area of Sheffield at around 7.10pm on April 5.
Tragically Marcia could not be saved and was declared dead at the scene.
Tributes flooded in for the foster carer, who was described as a “beautiful soul”.
Her heartbroken family said: “Marcia was a warm, loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and a pillar of her community.
“Her loss has already sent shockwaves through all who knew her or was lucky enough to be included in her orbit.
“We ask for privacy at this time while further investigations are underway and the Family try to come to terms with this enormous loss.”
