SKY is shutting down a major channel after after 17 years in a huge shake up.
The broadcaster has announced that its digital channel Pick TV will cease to exist later this month.
Instead it will be replaced by a brand new channel called Sky Mix.
The big shake up is set to happen on Wednesday October 18th when the new on-screen identity launches.
Sky have teased the new look channel will air Sky originals that have not been freely available on before on TV.
It will also have themed weeknight schedule with dedicated days set for drama, comedy and crime.
Pick TV launched all the way back in 2005 under its previous name as Sky Three.
Over the years it’s underwent a number of rebrands before becoming Pick in 2011.
Speaking about the shakeup, Zai Bennett, Managing Director of Content, Sky UK and Ireland, said: “Sky Mix is the perfect free-to-air home for us to showcase some of our favourite Sky shows that have already been a hit with our customers on Sky and NOW platforms…
“We’re proud to share earlier series of shows like Rob & Romesh Vs, True Detective and A Discovery of Witches as well as showcasing a selection of our Sky Original films from previous years on this brand-new free TV brand.”
Two years ago the broadcaster closed down the iconic Sky One channel after nearly 40 years.
It was replaced by Sky Showcase, which airs a selection of the best TV shows from across Sky’s portfolio of entertainment brands.
