Strictly Come Dancing’s Nikita Kanda reveals the brutal nickname Gorka Marquez calls her during training
STRICTLY Come Dancing star Nikita Kanda has revealed the brutal nickname given to her by pro partner Gorka Marquez.
The radio host, 28, and 33-year-old Gorka scraped through to this week on Sunday night after finding themselves in the dance off.
But despite their close shave, the pair were in good spirits during an appearance on spin-off show Strictly: It Takes Two on Tuesday night.
Nikita and Gorka even spilled the cheeky moniker he has given her to the BBC Two show’s host Fleur East.
Gorka was telling Fleur about how Nikita giggles throughout training when Nikita asked him: “What do you call my laugh?”
Gorka replied: “Peppa Pig laugh.”
Nikita explained: “Yeah… sometimes I snort when I laugh.”
Spanish dancer Gorka then demonstrated her snort, before saying: “When she does that, I call her Nikita Pig. And I’m her partner George Pig.”
Fleur dissolved into fits of giggles, before saying: “Err, it’s all love. I’m sure it’s all love…!”
Right on cue, Nikita then let out a ‘Peppa Pig’ laugh.
This weekend the celebrities and their partners will take on Movie Week.
Nikita and Gorka have revealed they will be performing a jive to Kim Wilde’s Kids In America from the 90s teen movie Clueless.
“I’m a bit nervous,” Nikita admitted to Fleur.
“I think it’s even faster than the Charleston so it’s definitely a case of working on the footwork. I know [Craig Revel Horwood] is going to be watching those feet.
“It’s about just getting the feet right and the time of it.”
Gorka added: “This dance is very fast. The leg action, kicks and flicks… there’s a lot of that.”
Nikita and Gorka had faced Les Dennis and Nancy Xui in the dance off, but were saved by the judges.
