Strictly Come Dancing in new ‘favouritism’ row as couple land ‘best dance’ for a second week running
STRICTLY Come Dancing is embroiled in a new ‘favouritism’ row.
Fans of the BBC show have pointed out that Amanda Abbington and Giovanni Pernice have landed the ‘best dance’ for a second week running.
During the first live show they scored 29/40 after dancing the Viennese Waltz, followed by a whopping 32/40 for their Salsa last Saturday.
Strictly viewers took to Reddit to point out that the pair have been given good dance choices, which has given them an advantage over others.
One said: “First it was pairing her with the male professional who is arguably the most popular current pro, Giovanni.
“Now they’re giving her dances that make her and Gio stand apart from the rest of the cast since they’re the debut dances of the styles they’ve chosen so far.”
“Yet another week of Amanda and Giovanni having a dance no other couple has… let’s see if this theme continues. It’s starting to look like favouritism to me,” another chimed in.
It comes after former Strictly star Brendan Cole claimed that Amanda ‘doesn’t trust’ Giovanni.
“With Amanda [Abbington] and Giovanni [Pernicei], they were really bringing it home about trust,” he said.
“There was a great telling moment – Giovanni said, ‘Do you trust me?’ and she said something along the lines of ‘Of course I trust you’, but at the same time, she was looking away – for me, body language is everything.”
He continued to tell Sky Bingo: “You can tell if somebody is lying – as she’s saying it, she’s literally looking away, so I think that she doesn’t trust him.
“It could be a fact that she doesn’t trust his motives within the show, she doesn’t trust his way of doing things – the friction in the relationship is real.”
Amanda and Giovanni passionately kissed after their steamy Samba on Saturday night.
After their jaw-dropping routine, an ecstatic Giovanni celebrated by gripping his partner’s face and planting his lips on it.
The move seemingly puts to bed the behind the scenes feud that had marred their early days on the show.
