I’m a home guru – my two-ingredient homemade air freshener is so cheap to make and completely free of chemicals
IT’S always super convenient to have a couple of air fresheners stored away in the cupboard.
After all, what’s nicer than returning home to your place smelling like it’s just been freshly cleaned?
But buying them from the store can be pretty expensive, while some shop-bought products contain chemicals that, according to some scientists, could be harmful when breathed in.
Fear not: one home whizz has shared her easy method for creating a DIY version in the comfort of your own kitchen – and even better, it’s free of all the additives.
Elnaz Hamai regularly shares her home, organisation and cleaning hacks on her Instagram account @ElnazHamai, where she’s racked up an impressive 295k followers.
And in a recent video, she shared her quick and easy method for creating a gorgeous scented fragrance.
Begin by mixing two cups of baking soda with 3/4 of a cup of water, the cleaning whizz recommends.
You should end up with a thickish paste, which you then, rather bizarrely, ought to scoop into cupcake cases, which will mould them into a handy shape.
Stick them in the oven for 20 minutes at around 180C and you’ve got your base.
They’ll be easy to move around – you can lift them via the cupcake cases – and as the finishing touch, add a blend of your favourite essential oils.
Elnaz stuck her’s on a pretty gold ornament and surrounded it with pink flowers, creating a gorgeous aesthetic piece that would instantly elevate any room.
“It’s easy and free of chemicals,” the home guru explains, as well as “a great way to neutralise any odour”.
Each one should last around three months, and you can store the rest of the batch in an airtight container to stock up on supply.
Fans went wild for Elnaz’s nifty trick, with her clip quickly racking up more than 350k views,
“Will definitely try and make this once I get back home,” one fan gushed.
“It’s such a great idea,” another agreed. “It turns out nice for decoration too.”
