I’m an interior decorator – my renter friendly kitchen DIY was a total upgrade and gave me marble countertops for $10
AN interior decorator has revealed a renter friendly kitchen DIY that she used to give her countertops a total upgrade.
Best of all, the affordable project took $10 and just a bit of her time.
Shanice (@shanicelashaystyle) shared the DIY project with over 190,000 TikTok followers.
The interiors expert removed the screws off her kitchen cabinets, placing them on the ground in order to measure them.
Next, she cut out appropriate pieces of black contact paper, $10, sticking them on the cabinets for a chic look.
Once the cabinets were fully covered, she re-installed them onto her cupboards.
The interior designer did the same with the exterior of her cabinets, making sure to cover every inch with the paper.
Moving onto her surfaces, she was able to achieve a marble countertop look with marble contact paper, $28.
As she layered the contact paper over the surface, she made sure to get rid of air bubbles with a plastic card, rubbing it over her application.
Although the DIY was affordable and easy, Shanice joked that she didn’t have the patience to do it again.
“It’s over now cause I’m not changing this again y’all haha! Went with the black cabinets and white marble countertops,” she said.
People took to the comments to thank her for the genius idea: “This is so smart and I assume economical, can work for landlords too,” said one commenter.
Others joked that their apartments are about to look completely different thanks to her hack.
“Maintenance walk in thinking they’re in a whole other complex,” said one viewer.
