Woman abandoned on a date for ordering £150 worth of food including 48 oysters and expecting HIM to pay the bill
A WOMAN has sparked controversy online after ordering £150 worth of food on a first date while expecting him to foot the bill.
Equana who is based in Atlanta, US, ordered the food which included 48 oysters but didn’t expect to pay a penny – that’s until her date walked out.
Taking to social media, the young woman showed off everything she ordered from Fontaine’s Oyster House on the date which abruptly ended when he did a runner after seeing the total bill.
Equana revealed the pair had been chatting for a while when he asked her if she would like to meet for a few drinks as a first date.
She headed down to restaurant and ordered a few lemon drop martinis and four plates of oysters much to his surprise.
Each plate cost $15 and in the clip she explained: “Y’all, when the fourth [plate] came out, he was looking at me crazy. I didn’t give a f**k.
“I’m like, ‘Baby, you invited me out. I’m going to eat.’”
But she didn’t stop there – after slurping 48 oysters doused in lemon and hot sauce she proceeded to get a main course of crab cakes and potatoes.
Equana was having the time of her life downing drinks and scoffing the delicious seafood down.
But when the tab came her date promptly headed to the bathroom – and never came back.
Stunned by his actions and having to pay for herself she messaged him: “Running out on a tab is crazyyy.”
But he stood by his actions, claiming he only offered to buy drinks and would transfer her the money for them.
Still reeling from his runner, she paid the £150 bill leaving a £10 tip.
The clip has since gone viral with over three million views on her TikTok account @equanaaa.
The video was inundated with comments from social media users and many seemed divided on who was in the wrong with many claiming she was.
One person wrote: “He has the best “tell me about your worst date experience”.”
Another commented: “Well DAMN mama! The slurping alone would have made me leave.”
“I woulda left too,” penned a third.
A fourth said: “Smart dude fa sho. Saw the red flag and dipped.”
“You should be embarrassed,” claimed a fifth.
Someone else added: “That man dodged a bullet. Self awareness is a beautiful thing.”
Speaking to Rolling Stone, Fontaine’s general manager Kelcey Flanagan, who was working that night, said: “I will say, it had been a minute since I had a single female eat that many.
“But then, you know, she was eating crackers and things like that. But yeah, she put it away. It’s pretty impressive.”
Hitting back at claims it was staged, she added: “No, this happens all the time.
“People already think it’s guerrilla marketing and it’s just like, it’s just Atlanta. You can’t make it up.”
