Budget airline will now pay you £520 if your luggage is delayed or lost
A POPULAR budget airline has pledged to pay passengers up to £520 if their luggage is delayed after a flight.
Wizz Air is offering a new “protection service” which will allow lost baggage to be tracked in real time.
The service will cost £2.17 per flight and includes guaranteed compensation of £260 if luggage is still missing after four days.
This figure would rise to £520 if two or more bags go missing for the same amount of time.
Wizz Air’s move is part of a partnership with lost luggage “concierge” service Blue Ribbon Bags.
The company’s main claim is to track down passengers’ bags after they are lost by airlines.
Research from bag storage company Bounce showed Heathrow statistically lost the most luggage in the UK, while two other London airports made the top five.
Heathrow had 96 cases of lost luggage during the period analysed, compared to Gatwick‘s 51.
Manchester had the worst figures from non-London airports, with 34 cases of lost luggage from the airport reported to the CAA.
It comes after a baggage handler revealed the genius way to stop your suitcase getting lost at the airport.
The travel expert appeared on a TikTok video posted from the Ontario International Airport explaining the hack.
In the clip, he told travellers to make sure to remove any tags and stickers from previous flights on their luggage.
The employee said they have valuable information about destinations and any possible flight connections.
