Rick Astley ignites ‘feud’ with BBC Breakfast star as he threatens to ‘choke’ them in baffling interview
SINGER Rick Astley put on a surprising display as he appeared on BBC Breakfast where his ‘feud’ with one of the show’s hosts boiled over.
Rick, known for his hits including Never Gonna Hive You Up, was on the BBC‘s morning offering after the release of his latest album.
Regular hosts Jon Kay and Sally Nugent were on hand to bring Britain up to speed with the latest headlines on the programme before welcoming on a flurry of different guests.
Despite his usually happy persona, it appeared that things went a bit frosty for Rick when he found out somebody else was in the BBC studio.
Just before chatting to the chart-topper, Sally warned her co-star, BBC weather presenter Matt Taylor that Rick was in the studio.
Clearly joking with her TV pal, Sally said to Matt: “Matt I think you’re probably quite glad to be where you are in your little studio today because one of your favourite people is here on the sofa – guess who it is.”
The presenter unenthusiastically joked back: “Am I his biggest fan?”
Sally then quipped: “You are now! It is of course Matt, Rick Astley.”
Rick and Matt have had a rumbling feud over Ben’s comments about the star in the past.
Upon hearing that Matt was in the studio, Rick put on a baffling display as he threatened to ‘choke’ the presenter.
Rick motioned his hands as though he was fiercely gripping Matt’s neck as he said: “Grr, where is he? Where is he?”
Aiming to offer some clarity on the situation, 52 year old Sally said: “I should explain to people watching at home, it was a while ago now that we asked Matt on air didn’t we? What do you think of Rick Astley?”
Butting in, Rick added: “Yes and he just said ‘Meh'” and shrugged his shoulders and I was sitting right there but I don’t blame him, it’s all good. It’s all good.”
Appearing to bury the hatchet despite their tension, Jon Kay asked Rick if he had forgiven Matt for his unsavoury past comments.
The singer replied: “Yeah, there was nothing to forgive, absolutely nothing to forgive.”
Rick’s new single Dippin My Feet is available now with the star heading out on tour later this year.
