The 7 ways to make your home look posh using cheap supermarket dupes – and why you’ve got to head to Asda
FROM rugs to lamps, decorating your home can often end up costing a small fortune.
But according to interior design experts Catherine, Sophie and Becky, there’s a super simple way to achieve the designer look for less – and it’s all thanks to supermarket homeware dupes.
Here, the trio of pros, from The Living House, have handpicked their best budget replicas from the likes of Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and Stacey Solomon‘s homeware range with Asda.
And with a whopping £406.83 to be saved, you best be quick…
Asda – Stacey Solomon Clear hammered wine glasses (£8) vs Denby Pottery molded wine glasses (£36)
If you’re looking for a set of wine glasses but don’t want to break the bank, then look no further…
The Kiln Set Of 2 Molded Red Wine Glasses by Denby combine a contemporary bowl shape with an eye catching molded effect and are perfect for any occasion.
But if you don’t want to splash out £36, then the ‘clear hammered wine glasses’ from Stacey Solomon‘s homeware range could just be the answer.
‘We love the hammered textured on these wine glasses for Stacey Solomons range with Asda,” the interior design experts explain.

Asda White arch speckled vase (£12) vs H&M Home Large stoneware vase (£29.99)
Whether they’re filled with pretty flowers or on display as decoration, vases are a super simple way to style your home.
H&M are selling a £29.99 large, glazed stoneware vase in a soft, irregular shape with two legs of different widths.
But the interior design pros have found a strikingly similar supermarket dupe in Asda – and it’s just £12.
‘The arch vase is a great piece to style your shelves,” the experts explain.
“The arch shape creates softer lines and we love the speckled finish.”
Asda Black sandblast table (£35) vs Perch and Parrow Cody iron side table (£165)
Statement side tables are often used to place drinks or decorative vase and can add a chic style to your home.
And the stunning ‘Perch and Parrow Cody iron side table,’ which will set you back an eye-watering £165 is no different.
But if you’re looking to draw attention without the hefty price tag, then the interior design experts suggest nabbing Asda’s £35 budget version.
‘A side table with interest, we love the shape of this contemporary piece,” the pros note.
Morrisons Gingham cushion (£10) vs John Lewis Gingham check cushion (£20)
There’s no easier way to spruce up your living room than with some stylish new cushion covers.
And if a neutral-themed gingham pattern is right down your street, then you’re in luck!
Rather than forking out £20 on the ‘Gingham check cushion’ sold by John Lewis, Morrisons are flogging one for half the price – meaning you’ll save yourself a tenner.
‘We love a gingham cushion for a relaxed country feel,” the experts explain.
“It’ll add a subtle amount of pattern to your sofa.
“A plain linen cushion would pair beautifully with the gingham pattern’.
Sainsbury’s/Habitat Seagrass small basket (£13.50) vs Neptune Redford basket (£41)
If you’re forever trying to find additional storage for clutter, then Habitat at Sainsbury’s could just be your answer.
The ‘Habitat Seagrass Small Basket,’ which retails at £13.50, is woven from natural sea grass and is designed with handles to make lifting and shifting easier.
And according to the experts, the two-tone basket is a dupe of Neptune’s pricier £41 ‘Redford basket,’ but is a whopping £27.50 cheaper.
‘Baskets make storage not only practical but stylish too,” they explain.
“Opt for a woven basket to bring in some natural textures.’
Sainsbury’s/Habitat Mushroom brass table lamp (£26.66) vs Olivia’s Tobor table lamp (£138)
Olivia’s stylish and modern Tobor table lamp will be sure to add a touch of glamour to any home thanks to its sumptuous gold hue.
But at a whopping £138, chances are it could well be out of your price range.
Luckily, the experts have found a replica version from none other than Asda – and it’s an impressive £111.34 cheaper.
Priced at just £26.66 in the sale, Sainsbury’s ‘Home Mushroom Brass Table Lamp’ is made from solid steel with a satin brass finish and equally demands attention.
‘This modern brass table lamp would work well for a glam look,” the interior design gurus say.
“Adding layers of lighting with table lamps and floor lamps help to create a cosy feel’.
Asda Checkerboard shaggy rug (£70) vs
Urban Outfitters Checkerboard terracotta rug (£152)
Rugs are a great way to add character to your space and can help to warm an otherwise cold-looking room.
Urban Outfitters are selling a ‘Checkerboard Terracotta 5×7 Rug’ which has been slashed in the sale from £169 to £152.
But the experts have found a doppelganger in Asda for a fraction of the price.
The supermarket’s ‘Homemaker Checkerboard Shaggy Rug’ retails at £70 and features the same tonal design.
While it’s missing the fringed sides that the pricier version offers, for £82 cheaper, it’s the perfect cheaper alternative.
‘Checkerboard has been a popular trend in rugs and cushions,” the interior design whizzes say.
“Asda have made it affordable to add the checkerboard pattern into your home.”
