My mom just got a letter from her ex from 30 years ago – I can’t stop thinking about his reason, it’s unreal behavior
WHILE many of us seek closure after a bad relationship, one woman had likely given up on getting an apology from her ex.
But 30 years later he mustered up the strength to do so.
Though in the past TikToker Summer Brown (@summersstrawberries) may have rarely thought about her mother’s young life, she recently witnessed old wounds play out and now can’t get it out of her head.
“My Roman Empire is how my mom’s ex from 30 years ago wrote her a letter SIX MONTHS AGO,” she began, referencing the Roman Empire trend that suggests something you think about often.
What did the old flame write in the letter exactly?
“Apologizing for how he acted and treated her.”
Summer didn’t expand on the details any further, but was clearly invested in what went down, as she used Olivia Rodrigo’s song Lacy – whose lyrics say, “I care, I care, I care” – in the background.
She flashed the camera to her mother who looked happy and unbothered by the revelation.
Still, Summer acknowledged his boldness.
“Actually unreal behavior,” she captioned the clip.
A few days later, she revealed in a follow-up that her mother had originally asked her daughter “not to tell anyone about it,” but it was too late – the clip exposing the info had reached over 1.4 million views.
Viewers said the ex’s letter proved a belief they stand behind, with multiple people commenting: “They always come back.”
Others divulged their own similar experiences.
“My ex texted me to apologize the night before his wedding,” one person revealed.
“I dated someone at 18. We went our separate ways. I married, divorced, had kids. [12 years later] he messages me on Facebook. We’ve been together 11 now,” another shared.
