I live and work in my van – doing a load of laundry means staying put for a bit but I wash my underwear in a bucket
A VAN dweller has shared an insight into the less glamorous side of her unique living situation.
The TikToker showed her followers how she manages to wash her clothes while on the road.
In her video, Alice (@spindriftvan) explained that she spent “seven months converting a van.”
While she regularly shares content on her various adventures, Alice also gives viewers a glimpse into her day-to-day life.
In one clip, she revealed how she tackles chores such as laundry while living in a van.
She showed her followers “how I do my washing and laundry whilst living on the road in my little self-converted van.”
Alice, who works remotely, highlighted “van life reality” as she filmed herself at the laundromat.
“I just wash my pants in a bucket of water but when it’s time for more laundry like my sheets and my clothes then I use a laundromat,” she said.
Alice explained: “I use [an app] to find ones at petrol stations or they’re really easy to find in towns.”
She also showed her audience how she avoids additional charges during warmer weather.
“In the summer I never bother to pay for the tumble dryer option because the sun will do that for me,” she said as she filmed her laundry hanging on the exterior of her parked van.
“It does mean you have to stay stationary for a while with everything tied to the roof but that’s hardly a chore when you’re waiting around with views like this,” Alice explained, showing off the nearby beach.
“The roof then became my dinner table as I cooked rice and salmon and I just admired the waves in the surf all evening,” she concluded.
TikTok users took to the comments section to share their thoughts on Alice’s van life.
“For everything but sheets I’ve found the Scrubba bags are worth the money, a load every few days,” suggested one viewer.
Another impressed follower shared their love of Alice’s setup. They wrote: “OMG, the hammock.”
“What a beautiful view,” commented a third person.
