Is whisky gluten-free?
According to Coeliac UK, because whisky is made from barley it is gluten- free and safe to drink for those with Coeliac disease or gluten intolerance.
Cider, wine, sherry, spirits, port and liqueurs are usually gluten-free, but beer, lagers, stouts and ales contain varying amounts of gluten so aren’t suitable for gluten-free diets.
Does whisky go off?
Before you open a bottle of whisky, it lasts indefinitely and you can keep it on your shelf for as long as you like.
Once you’ve cracked it open for a glass, however, the clock starts ticking and you’ll have one to two years until it’s gone bad.
If you’re wondering how to tell if your whisky has gone off, experts advise looking out for any change in smell or a sour, metallic taste.
How many calories are in whisky?
According to Drinkaware UK, a standard whisky and mixer contains 117 calories.
Whisky has a high ABV when compared to other types of alcohol, and is usually mixed with sugary drinks, which can increase the amount of calories you’re consuming more than you may think.
