The five best high-street dupes, from M&S’s Chloé copy to an H&M bag that could save you more than £2k
THERE’S few things better than finding an absolutely fab dupe of one of your favourite high-end products.
From perfumes to wines, the high-street has an economical alternative for seemingly everything.
But with so many on offer, it’s tricky to work out which savvy swaps are actually worth splashing the cash on.
That’s why Fabulous has compiled a list of our five favourite quick switches, which will give you all the luxe feels without breaking the bank.
ZARA’S ENERGETICALLY NEW YORK EAU DE PARFUM (£25.99)
SWAP FOR: Le Labo Santal 33 (£230)
Le Labo’s Santal scent is one of the most chic on the market.
It’s worn by everyone from Alexa Chung to Jodie Comer – even Justin Bieber apparently loves a spritz!
According to the fancy designer’s website, the fragrance is inspired by the “rugged, wide plains of the American West”, and created with a mix of cardamom and notes of iris and violet.
The perfume also has a smoky aroma thanks to the addition of Australian sandalwood and cedarwood, which add “spicy, leathery, musky notes”.
But with such an impressive and exclusive fan club, it’s perhaps no surprise that the fragrance’s price tag is similarly high-end.
A 100ml bottle of the cologne will set you back a whopping £230, making it simply unaffordable for the vast majority of us.
Enter Zara’s Energetically New York, a fragrance similarly boasting notes of cardamom, jasmine and sandalwood.
Created by the uber-famous Jo Malone, the raved-about aroma has an androgynous feel – just like Le Labo’s offering – with a similar spicy yet fresh vibe.
Best of all, the budget buy comes in at just £34.65 per 100ml, or £25.99 for a smaller bottle.
That’s a remarkable £195 cheaper than it’s inspiration, for a scent that savvy shoppers insist is near indistinguishable.
Endless TikTokers have shared videos of the two perfumes next to each other, alongside the sound: “This, and this, are the same thing. Dupes!”
Another shopper described Zara’s version as “the best Santal 33 dupe” on the market.
A famous YouTube perfume tester, known as The Scented, raved about it as a “10/10” swap, jokingly calling it the “dupiest” of all perfumes she’d tested.
“For those who like Santal 33, this is a fantastic budget alternative,” she concluded.
ELF HALO GLOW LIQUID FILTER (£14)
SWAP FOR: CHARLOTTE TILBURY HOLLYWOOD FLAWLESS FILTER (£39)
ELF is one of the most renowned budget-friendly make-up brands around, and none of their products are as loved as the Halo Glow Liquid Filter.
On Boots’ website alone, the £16 staple has more than 3.7k five-star reviews, with a remarkable average rating of 4.7.
“Gives the right balance of coverage and glow” one shopper raved. “So good I bought an extra.”
“Such a beautiful product,” another gushed. “Lightweight on the skin and makes the skin look hydrated and youthful. I’m a ‘glowing’ type of girl and I approve!”
And while it’s a gorgeous product in its own right, plenty of canny customers recognise it’s a virtually indistinguishable dupe for Charlotte Tilbury’s Flawless Filter foundation.
Gorg celebs including Kate Moss, Lily James and Salma Hayek all love Charlotte’s cult-fav, with 100% of testers reporting that their skin looked “glowing” after applying the product.
But while the high-end version comes in at a pricey £39, Elf’s version is just £14 – around a third of the price.
And even according to the most well-known make-up aficionados, the difference between the two products is literally indiscernible.
“Halo Glow, to be honest, this is most definitely a dupe,” cosmetics whizz Daus Mendoza told his 3.9m followers, “if not better”.
He described it as even “smother and more radiant” than it’s high-priced inspo.
ASDA’S CREMANT DE BOURGOGNE BRUT NV (£13)

With Christmas fast approaching, there’s nothing more essential than a nice bottle of bubbly to get festivities in full swing.
Fancy fizz band Moëts produces what is perhaps the most-famous champers in the world, with its classic brioche and baked apple flavours known the world over.
The website describes the drink as “generous and tasty”, adding that “white fruit notes including pear, white peace and apple unfurl on the palate, in the company of fine, light bubbles”.
With each bottle aged in a cellar for 24 months, it’s no surprise that the luxury tipple is a favourite of almost every celebrity: it was even served at Queen Elizabeth II’s Coronation.
But unsurprisingly, it comes with a fittingly exclusive price tag: a normal bottle will set you back £43.
So if you’re looking for a more affordable alternative, try Asda’s Cremant de Bourgogne Brut, which comes in a whopping £30 cheaper.
According to wine expert Helena Nicklin from thethreedrinkers.com, it’s made in pretty much exactly the same way, just in a slightly different region.
It’s won multiple accolades, including a silver medal at the World Wine Awards, and has a near-identical flavour profile.
And customers clearly agree, adding that the taste is virtually the same as Moët’s luxury one.
“I used to be in the wine trade,” one revealed in the review section, “and Cremant de Bourgogne is made by the same method as Champagne with one of the same grape varieties used (Chardonnay) as Champagne but at a fraction of the price.
“It’s always been one of my favourites.”
M&S’S LEATHER TRIM FLAT LOAFERS (£55)
CHLOÉ’S MARCIE LEATHER LOAFERS (£618)
Normally when it comes to top-end designer shoe dupes, there’s some small indication that helps you separate the real version from the copy.
But we honestly can’t spot any difference between these two pair of shoes – it might be the most dead-on high-street dupe that’s ever been on offer.
Chloé’s Marcie Embellished Loafers are a certified celeb fav, having been modelled by everyone from Gigi Hadid and Hailey Bieber.
The only issue is they’re priced at an eye-watering £618 – way out of most people’s price range.
M&S’s Leather Trim Flat Loafers, meanwhile, come in at a very reasonable £55, less than a tenth of the price of the designer offering.
They have a similar low heel making them perfect for everyday wear, while the antibacterial insoles that help keep your feet feeling fresh and prevents the blisters that often arise from stiff layers.
The most impressive element is the gold hardware buckle across the front, which is exactly the same as the Chloé ones.
Customers can’t get enough of the trendy clogs, and have flooded the review section with love for the “perfect” buy.
“Great loafers. Stylish, well made, comfortable and on trend,” one wrote.
“Comfortable, look more expensive than they are, really more, really nice loafers,” another agreed.
“Love them… so comfortable…” another gushed. “Look so designer!!”
H&M’S CROSS-BODY BAG (£18.99)
SWAP FOR CELINE’S CLASSIQUE TRIOMPHE BAG IN SHINY CALFSKIN BLACK (£2.95K)
The largest saving on our list, the H&M accessory undeniably oozes sophistication and will have your friends green with envy.
The faux leather piece is the perfect shoulder bag for a night out on the town, and comes with an adjustable shoulder strap and a concealed magnetic fastener.
So far, pretty basic: but the showstopper is the gorgeous golden clasp at the front, featuring a ring interlocked with a half-ring on each side.
It’s this clever design that elevates the piece, and means it’s easily confused for Celine’s Classique Triomphe Bag.
The French designer’s version is much the same – the middle circle is a little more filled in if you look closely – but any non-expert would be hard pushed to spot the difference from afar.
For shoppers, there’s one pretty considerable contrast, however: Celine’s would set you back a pretty unimaginable £2.95k, while H&M’s comes in at just under £19.
Shoppers are, unsurprisingly, obsessed with the economical alternative: search H&M Celine on TikTok and your page will be flooded with raving clips.
According to stylish influencer Katie Penny, the high-street bag is “so identical” to Celine’s version, while another creator, Katie Peake, called the similarity “insane”.
