Four money-saving home hacks – including the trick that heats room for pennies and how to speed up laundry drying time
WITH many of us feeling a strain on purses more so than ever before, if you’re looking to save some cash this winter, you’ve come to the right place.
Timothy Paul, a savvy saver, has shared his top four money-saving home hacks – with all things from tricks to speed up your laundry drying time, to a hack that heats your room for pennies.
So if you are fed up of waiting for days for your clothes to dry, and want to stay warm on chilly winter nights, without needing to turn your heating on, we’ve got you covered.
Sharing his advice on social media, Timothy first shared his washing machine hack that will dry your clothes quicker.
He advised: “Always spin your laundry twice. It dries your clothes much faster (without using the dryer).”
Next up, once his washing was finished, he hung it on an airer and recommended: “Place a bed sheet over your laundry. Your clothes will dry much quicker!”
Not only this, but if you want to get into a warm bed at night and want your room to feel cosy, Timothy advised buying a heated blanket.
He explained: “Get yourself a heated blanket. [It] only costs £0.03p per hour (on full blast).”
Finally, if you are someone who regularly wipes the sipes with a blue cloth, Timothy shared: “If you get through these [all-purpose] cloths super fast….cut them in half. Double the amount for half the price.”
The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @tempahtime, has clearly impressed many, as it has quickly racked up 279,800 views.
Social media users were thankful for the suggestions and were eager to give them a try, which many took to the comments to express.
One person said: “Very nice suggestions, Thank You.”
Another added: “Oh didn’t know about this one [sheet hack] thanks. I always spin twice too.”
A third commented: “I’m going to give it a try and see if it works.”
At the same time, someone else asked: “Why do clothes dry quicker with a sheet?!”
To this, Timothy confirmed: “It traps the air!!”
Meanwhile, another savvy saver claimed: “I put a single sleeping blanket over my clothes horse with a dry sheet over, all the washing was dry in 3 hours. Cost 2p.”
However, at the same time, many social media users took to the comments to share their thoughts on using j cloths.
One user explained: “Those blue cloths are a waste of space! They are non absorbent and useless at cleaning! Don’t waste your time on them!”
Another asked: “Why is anyone buying those cloths they are c**p.”
Whilst someone else penned: “Ditch the blue j cloths. Full of plastic and bad for the environment. Like the other tips though.”
