Dishwasher tablet prices are insane – I make my own that gets glasses shining, a 2-month supply costs less than $7
A CLEANING enthusiast has shared the recipe for her homemade dishwasher tablets.
The TikToker revealed that her DIY solution costs a fraction of the price of a store-bought product.
In her video, Laura Sharpe (@houseoffleur_) explained that she was walking down the cleaning aisle in a store when she saw a bag of dish tablets that cost around $40.
She told viewers: “I just thought what has this world come to? It’s insane so I make my own dish tablets, this recipe is really good.
“It costs $7 for a two-month supply so it lasts forever and it’s good for your health.”
In the caption, she explained: “Store-bought dish tablets are not only expensive, they’re so bad for your health, it’s so easy to make your own.”
In a second clip, Laura showed her followers how to make the “cheap non-toxic” dish tablets that she said “make glasses shine.”
For her first step, she added a cup of washing soda and half a cup of percarbonate to a bowl.
She then poured a quarter cup of citric acid and 10 drops of high-quality lemon essential oil into the mix.
Laura topped the solution off with two cups of Young Living Thieves Household Cleaner.
“Mix all the ingredients until it turns into a crumbly mixture,” she explained.
She then dished the combined ingredients into a silicone mold, pressing down firmly.
Laura recommended leaving the DIY mixture to harden for 24 hours before storing the tablets in a glass jar.
TikTok users took to the comments section to share their thoughts on the hack.
“This is actually a game changer, I buy my non-toxic tablets in iHerb and they are so expensive, thanks so much for sharing,” wrote one viewer.
Another impressed follower said: “Oooh yes, this is amazing.”
“I love Thieves! Thanks for making these, although in our big family, this wouldn’t last two weeks,” commented a third person.
