I just learned centipedes get into your house from your drain – my easy, cheap repellant will let you sleep peacefully
A DIY enthusiast has shared her clever hack for keeping pests at bay.
She claimed that her homemade concoction will keep centipedes out of the home, without breaking the bank for an exterminator.
The TikToker shared her video to @gurunanda.official, discussing her method for deterring unwanted guests.
“I just found out that house centipedes come through your drain,” she said.
“I saw one in my kitchen sink last night. So I’m going to make the easiest and cheapest repellent ever for a rail.
“All you need is a spray bottle of water and peppermint and cedarwood essential oil,” she said.
She held up the tiny bottles of essential oils, as well as an amber glass spray bottle.
“That’s literally it. Now you can sleep peacefully. You’re welcome,” she added.
The video drew in many viewers who shared their thoughts in the comment section.
“But house centipedes don’t infest your house though? They won’t make homes or lay eggs, they are constantly on the move for food. They eat other bugs,” one wrote.
“They’re creeps. I just am very scared of them lol I know a lot of people are too,” the TikToker replied.
“Is there an alternative? I can’t use mint,” another asked.
“Yep,” she wrote back. “I’ll post today.”
“House centipedes eat roaches and other house pests. I just leave them alone,” a third commented.
“It also keeps away spiders and scorpions,” yet another wrote.
“If you can’t do this, just cover your drains,” one more wrote.
“The only issue with that is that it can cause some mildew and mold issues — especially in poorly ventilated, old homes,” the TikToker responded.
