Emma Willis takes on surprising new role after shock axes for Olly Murs and Anne-Marie on The Voice
EMMA WILLIS has been host of The Voice since 2014 so it’s hardly surprising that she fancied a change.
And this weekend she will get a taste of life as a coach on the ITV1 series – which returned last week – by making her debut in one of the famous red chairs.
My snaps show the presenter poised to press her button like the panel’s Will.i.am, Sir Tom Jones, Olly Murs and Anne-Marie.
It happens after Emma quizzes the group on why none of them turned for the first singer on this week’s show.
This leads Will to invite her to try being a coach for the first time.
Emma said: “It was really nerve-racking.“I sat there like, ‘Oh my God, I don’t think I should be doing this.’ What if I don’t hear properly? Who am I to sit here and tell someone yes or no?
“It was like live telly. It filled me with adrenaline and I loved it. Next time, I might run out there and push someone else’s button. I might just go rogue.”
This pre-recorded run sees Olly and Anne-Marie take their seats for the final time, as both have been axed from the panel and won’t feature in further series.
The Voice UK continues on Saturdays at 8.25pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
TIM LOVEJOY and Simon Rimmer were left red-faced on Sunday Brunch after their indoor fireworks failed to impress their guests.
Spencer Matthews and Vogue Williams, looked a little bemused on the Channel 4 show as the bangers they were expecting turned out to be more like sparklers.
Shaun’s sitting pretty
SHAUN RYDER and Bez have raising hell for decades in the band Happy Mondays but they admit their dream job has been on Celebrity Gogglebox.
The pair can’t believe their luck that they landed a role relaxing on the sofa watching TV for the hit Channel 4 show.
Shaun said: “If someone when I was at school had said to me you’re going to get a job where you get paid to sit and get p***ed and watch telly with your best mate that would have been ideal for me.“
“The stuff you think is really funny doesn’t get on.
“If it was live and it was on before the watershed there would be a lot of bleeping – we’re not really good at censoring ourselves.”
That might explain why the lads aren’t on the Celebrity Gogglebox roster this year.
Alan up for the quack
NEIGHBOURS star Alan Fletcher says he’s happy to be playing Dr Karl Kennedy again after the Aussie soap was handed a lifeline by Amazon Freevee.
But that’s not stopped him cooking up the perfect exit strategy for the character, for when the time comes.
Alan said: “Nobody has seen Karl’s qualifications so the obvious thing to do will be to expose him as a fraud and a quack who has never passed a medical exam in his life!
“It’s in the bank, metaphorically speaking, just waiting to be used.
“I’ve no plans to head to the exit at this moment in time but when I do I’ve told the scriptwriters it would be a fantastic way to go – the revelation that Dr Karl is no better qualified to be the doctor in Ramsay Street than Bouncer the dog!”
It would certainly explain some of the bonkers behaviour of his patients over the years.
FOLLOWING the success of her Disney+ series, Coleen Rooney has hinted that she’s eyeing more TV work.
But the footie Wag said she won’t be rushing into deals, telling You Magazine: “I’ll sit down with my management and map out what’s next . . . I like to organise and be prepared.”
BBC2 makes a splash
BBC Two is taking a dive into the unknown with new series, Secrets Of The Aquarium.
Cameras will go behind the scenes at the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth to show the ups and downs of running the attraction.
In one gripping scene in the six-parter – starting on November 14 – a problematic shark has to be moved.
The team feels the pressure with just nine minutes to get the huge fish from its tank on the bottom floor to another at the top of the building.
Clare Mottershead, BBC commissioning editor, said: “Secrets Of The Aquarium has been such an eye-opening project. We can’t wait to bring the wonders of this underwater world to our audiences.”
