Woman transforms boring council kitchen for under £600 including new washing machine & it’s all thanks to B&Q bargains
A WOMAN has revealed how she transformed her council house kitchen on a budget using bargain buys – and saved herself “thousands” in the process.
The savvy DIY whizz, known only as Mich, budgeted under £600 to give her tired-looking council house kitchen a modern update – and people can’t believe how good it looks.
In a clip shared to TikTok (@fajolu_family_home), she shows off the dull, cream-coloured room before the impressive makeover – and it’s fair to say it was in desperate need of some TLC.
She then reveals the finished results, with the oak cupboards wrapped in a modern white vinyl, the once black worktop surface now boasting a super stylish grey and white marble-effect pattern and a fresh set of rectangular white tiles.
Mich also gave the walls a lick of paint using matt Dulux pure brilliant white.
The savvy woman captioned the post: “Love a transformation,” followed by a love heart eye emoji.
“All materials came in just under £600,” she penned.
“That’s new worktops, new sink and tap, wall tiles grout and adhesive vinyl wrap and paint.”

She noted that the tap, sink and tiles were from B&Q, the worktops from HC suppliers, vinyl from Vinyl warehouse and blinds from Cheapest Blinds UK.
Not only that, but she even managed to add a washing machine and dryer from Very, all within the budget.
As for finishing touches, Mich added a clock from The Range and tea, sugar and coffee jars from Amazon.
It wasn’t long before the post went viral, racking up over 96k views and endless comments, with many quick to praise the woman for her very impressive handiwork.
“Brilliant job!!!” enthused one.
A second noted: “Looks lovely.”
A third penned: “That looks a million times better than it did.”
Meanwhile, a fourth wrote: “Wow! This looks amazing!”
Another added: “That looks nice!”
A further chimed in: “Wow great job – amazing!”
And one more noted: “STUNNING!”
