Savvy mum shares little known trick to get a Build-a-Bear for just £1 when they are normally £14
A SAVVY mum has shared her little-known trick to taking home a Build-a-Bear teddy for just £1.
Jardine Mills shared the handy hack with fellow parents as she said they could save up to £13.99 with virtually no effort on their part.
Jardine, who is mum to a one-year-old called Mason, explained that she’d heard about the in-store deal on the grapevine and was keen to check it out herself.
So she filmed her trip to the popular kids’ toy shop to see how you can bag a bear for a quid – and to redeem the offer you have to be part of the Bonus Club.
As she’d previously signed up online, the mum, who shared the hack on her TikTok account @jardinemills, showed herself going into the shop and quickly tracked down the ‘birthday bear’.
The teddy had fluffy brown fur and other cute features, including white and red paws.
She then revealed: “So for any mums who might not know this, head to Build-a-Bear workshop on the month of your baby’s birthday.
“Then the birthday bear, which should be £14.99, will cost the price of the age they are turning that month
The parent continued to show the bear builders making her son’s teddy with the stuffing and heart.
She said: “So, for example, Mason’s bear will cost £1.”
Jardine said that while it was easy to use the in-store offer, it’s important to flag that you could end up spending more than you first intended to.
She warned: “Now, don’t get me wrong, they try to get you with plenty of extras but for us it just wasn’t necessary to get.”
The mum also joked that it leads to a memorable family day out, as she captured footage of her adorable little one playing with the bear character who was all dressed up in the store.
But the best part of the shopping trip was when Mason was handed his very own teddy.
The bear came complete with its own personalised birth certificate too, which added a nice little touch as the child can name their own bear.
And Jardine couldn’t be more thrilled with the outcome, as she showed him playing with the teddy in his pram.
She concluded: “He absolutely loved his teddy and couldn’t stop playing peek-a-boo.
“It’s a nice little keepsake gift that only costs £1 so it’s worth trying out if you’re near a Build-a-Bear workshop.”
Others were also quick to thank her for the advice and said they’d definitely take advantage when their children were celebrating their birthdays.
One person wrote: “That’s so good, my little one is going to be one on the 23rd of January.”
And another said: “OMG I take my son every birthday and spend a fortune – thanks for sharing.”
