I heat entire rooms using two garden center buys, it slashes your bills and is perfect for a prepper queen like me
THE solution to rising energy costs could be at hand from your local gardening center.
That’s according to a TikTok user who has used this nifty device.
She said it could slash your bills and heat entire rooms.
It was a perfect solution for Prepperqueen (@prepperqueen).
She has 79,000 followers on her TikTok.
In this post, she shared her novel way of keeping warm and snug this winter.
However, not everyone agreed that it was a viable alternative to conventional heating methods.
The bare essentials for this heating apparatus could be sourced from any garden centre.
Or you might already have some hanging around your backyard.
This might be a good way to use those empty containers as temperatures fall.
“One clay flower pot and candle will provide heat for one room if you are without heat,” she said boldly in her post.
This heating system comprised of terracotta pot balanced on bricks, over a candle, allowing enough space for air to circulate.
Survival News explained the science behind this form of heating.
“The purpose of the pot is to absorb and hold onto the heat produced by the candles, and the terracotta/clay accomplishes this pretty well.
“The stored heat then radiates from the flower pot into the rest of the room.”
But there are some who say the promise of a terracotta heater is just that and nothing more.
Garden Myths were quite clear about it: “Anyone who claims that one clay pot heater design produces more heat than another is deluding themselves because none are more efficient than just using the candles on their own.”
This commenter concurred and was rather direct in his view of this form of heating.
“Bulls*t. Thermal dynamics prove it’s a lie.”
But there were others who found it worked for them.
“Used this two years ago when Texas had ice-apocalypse in February.”
Another also vouched for it: “This works. I used it in Chicago when it was minus-30 and the power went out for a few hours.”
