Kate Moss accused of pulling a sickie as she misses her own star-studded party to celebrate big money brand deal
IN the Nineties she was the queen of the London party set and would be out most nights with her A-list pals.
But it seems supermodel Kate Moss is becoming more like us normal folk — after apparently throwing a last-minute sickie to miss a star-studded bash.
This party wasn’t just any old knees up, either, it was thrown in Kate’s honour to celebrate her partnership with American designer Anine Bing who had splashed some serious cash at the do and had flown over from Los Angeles especially.
An insider said: “Anine and her team had pulled out all the stops for a mega-party to celebrate their partnership.
“Kate is the face of the brand’s autumn campaign and they had organised the massive party because it is such a major deal.
“They even had a London taxi with a huge picture of the advert on the side of it and had forked out large sums of money on booze and posh canapes.
“But not long after the party started they were told Kate couldn’t make it because she wasn’t well.
“Lots of people were making jokes about her pulling a sickie, but it wasn’t amusing for all the people who had gone to all that effort.
“By the time Kate’s team had told them about the no-show the bash was in full swing.
“They even had Kate’s DJ mate Fat Tony on the decks.”
Luckily, stars including fellow model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley — inset with Anine— were on hand to provide a bit of glamour in Kate’s absence from The Stables in London’s Covent Garden on Wednesday.
A few years ago Kate confessed she had put her wild partying days behind her and now preferred to be in bed well before midnight.
She said: “I hit the sack at 11pm-ish and watch Netflix before I go to sleep.
“I wake up at around 8am.
“I’m a bit groggy in the afternoon if I don’t get eight hours sleep.”
Given Kate now lives in the Cotswolds, I can’t imagine that long drive being too appealing. Hopefully she has a swift recovery.
Noel braced for Tay defeat
NOEL GALLAGHER might have to eat his words today as it looks like Taylor Swift will pip Oasis to the No1 spot on the album chart.
The Nineties group were leading the pack this week with the 25th anniversary reissue of The Masterplan, which would have been their ninth chart-topping album.
But last night Taylor’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version) – which went to No1 last week as the fastest-selling album of the year – had edged ahead.
Noel said in 20202: “When I was growing up, the biggest-selling acts were the best acts. . . Now the biggest things in the world if f***ing Taylor Swift? What? F*** off.”
Taylor was this week named Apple Music’s Artist of the Year.

Nic is like a kid
SOMETIMES I wonder whether Nicole Kidman is a real-life Benjamin Button.
At 56, she outshone all the youngsters in this plunging dress at the Country Music Association Awards.
She was at the ceremony in Nashville to support her singer husband Keith Urban, who was a presenter at the bash on Wednesday.
Singer-songwriter Lainey Wilson won five awards, including Entertainer of the Year, but Nicole had reason to celebrate, too.
The Sag-Aftra actors’ strike in the US has been called off after four months following a tentative deal with Hollywood studios.
That means Nicole can get back on set for her Netflix series The Perfect Couple.
She certainly looks the part for a title like that.
CAT STEALS THE SHOW
CAT DEELEY seems to be having fun at the party thrown for Kate Moss by designer Anine Bing.
The telly presenter looked incredible in this slinky, silver dress as it emerged she is joining This Morning following host Holly Willoughby‘s departure.
Cat, who presented SMTV Live and CD:UK for years, will front the ITV show with Rylan Clark next week, which could well lead to a full-time contract. No wonder she looks like the cat who got the cream.
Bocelli fest gig is a classic
ITALIAN tenor Andrea Bocelli is the first headliner confirmed for next year’s BST Hyde Park.
He will make history when he takes to the stage on July 5 as the central London festival has never hosted a classical performer.
It coincides with a huge milestone for Andrea, who went blind aged 12, as he celebrates the 30th anniversary of his career.
The music legend, who is expected to be joined by special guests, said he can’t wait to share the occasion with fans.
He added: “Hyde Park is the perfect place for coming together to celebrate my 30th anniversary and reimagine it as a springboard propelling us into the future, imbued with positivity and the power of good.
“Celebrating it here is sure to be unforgettable.”

KIMBERLEY WALSH was as chatty as a plastic toy as she was seen for the first time since I revealed Girls Aloud were reuniting.
The singer, one fourth of the chart-topping girl group, was at a festive launch event at the Lego store in London’s Leicester Square along with her three sons, just 24 hours after shooting the group’s comeback video.
But when asked about the exciting news, she said she didn’t want to talk.
It’s only a matter of time until all will be revealed, I’m sure.

RACHEL STEVENS has finally gone Instagram official with Dancing On Ice’s Brendyn Hatfield, six months after their relationship was revealed.
She shared this snap showing her with the pro skater and her two daughters backstage at S Club’s recent tour, with Brendyn even in band merch.
Rachel married property expert Alex Bourne in 2009 but announced their split last year.
Earlier in 2022 she had been partnered with Brendyn on the ITV skating show.
But with her former S Club bandmate Hannah Spearritt competing on next year’s series amid a claimed fallout with her pop pals, I can’t imagine Rachel will be racing to the studios.
