Banish condensation from your windows by changing the way you cook your dinner – it’s completely free & so easy
REVOLUTIONISING tips on how to banish condensation from your home have been revealed – and they’re completely free.
Ventilation manufacturer, Envoirovent, have shared 14 ways of how to stop glass from misting up – and surprisingly two of them involve making some adjustments to the way you cook.
Its number one tip is to use pan lids when you’re cooking up a storm.
This will reduce the amount of moisture that is released into the air when water is boiling.
It adds: “Also, ensure you are using an extractor hood if you have one above the cooker or an extractor fan if you have one installed, these are designed to help reduce moisture created when cooking.”
It also advises to avoid turning off your extractor fan as soon as you finish cooking as the moisture can still be in the air even after you have finished.
And says: “Instead leave it on afterwards for 10-15 minutes to help to clear the humid air.”
The second tip given is to ensure bathroom and kitchen doors are closed.
This is as bathrooms and kitchens are the main sources of the water vapour that creates condensation on window.
Envoirovent says: “When cooking food, boiling the kettle, or taking a bath or shower, ensure that your kitchen or bathroom door is kept closed to prevent the moisture in the air from going into colder rooms where it will form condensation.”
Last month a property expert also shared tips of easy ways to remove condensation.
To limit condensation @thatpropertyguy said open a window or get a dehumidifier, but many also commented their own tips underneath his video.
One said: “Most windows will have vents at the top or bottom. They should always be open.
“It allows for passive ventilation and stops condensation.”
Another said: “Triple glaze option is best for replacement windows.”
