Bizarre toothpaste hack cleans your washing machine in minutes – and it removes gross smells
A CLEVER woman has revealed her unusual hack to clean out the washing machine, leaving people confused.
Anna Louisa often uses her social media account to share her cleaning and home hacks and in one video, she shared a compilation of different tricks she uses.
The most stand-out hack she used, however, was when she took half a lemon and spread a toothpaste all over it.
She then threw this into the washing machine and ran a cycle before showing off how sparkling clean the interior was.
People were left baffled by this and immediately asked her about it in the comment section as one person wrote: “I need details on this lemon toothpaste situation!”
To which she replied: “It cleans and removes odours!”
Another questioned: “What’s the lemon toothpaste method?!?”
TikTok user @anna_louisa_at_home responded: “Hi, cut a lemon, swirl on some toothpaste on both halves and pop both in the washing machine. Set to a quick wash”.
And when another asked if there’s a specific type of toothpaste you need to use, she explained: “Yes any type [works]”.
A fourth joked: “I put a lemon in my washin machine 3 years ago ive still not found it”.
People were also impressed with the other hacks she outlined in her video though as one of them involved putting a balled up piece of foil into the dishwasher.
This is done to remove the silver sulphide often found on cutlery and plates, making it look sparkling clean when a cycle is done.
In another segment, she sprinkled baking soda on her mattress, allowing it to sit for 15 minutes before hoovering it all up.
She said this would “deodorise your mattress”.
Anna then used the classic technique of adding fabric softener to a bowl of hot water before soaking a dish towel in it.
She then wrapped the towel around a pot lid and cleaned the couch down – a method that’s been criticised by many people as they’ve argued it doesn’t clean it.
Her final hack included adding baking soda to the sink plug before pouring vinegar down the drain to clean it out.
In the caption, she wrote: “Obsessed with cleaning hacks?! Yes I am! I love finding new ways to make cleaning quicker and easier! Who’s with me?”
