Amy Barlow faces years in prison after revenge plot goes wrong in Coronation Street
STRUGGLING to cope months after her rape ordeal, Amy Barlow attempted some vigilante work and a man ended up in hospital.
The Coronation Street favourite portrayed by Elle Mulvaney risks years in prison after her actions. How will she get out of it?
Amy has tried to keep things together in the face of adversity after being raped by Aaron Sandford but her trauma caught up with her in a flash when she spotted a man called Dan trying to spike women in a nightclub.
This prompted her to take action with the sole purpose of helping other women avoid an attack.
Unfortunately for her, this backfired and Dan was taken to hospital.
Amy’s downward spiral continues next week on ITV as she and Aadi Alahan (played by Adam Hussain) mull over the events of the night.
The pair hope that when Dan wakes up, he won’t be able to remember what happened to him.
Later on, DS Swain calls and says she needs both Amy and Aadi to accompany to the station, where she questions the former.
Terrified, Amy tells DS Swain she’d like a solicitor and, with Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) present, DS Swain resumes the interview.
This results in her warning the teen that she could be looking at five years in prison.
While a man remains in hospital because of her, Amy was also arrested for criminal damage after spiralling out of control during a protest.
In the UK, the offence can attract a maximum sentence of ten years in prison.
Later on, Amy thanks Aadi for standing by her, but when he leans in for a kiss and she reciprocates, she’s suddenly overcome by a wave of panic.
Viewers of the Manchester-based drama will recall that Amy has been finding it hard to get back to a normal life after being taken advantage of by Aaron Sandford during a drunken evening.
Following her attack, Amy kept quiet, fearing she wouldn’t be believed by those closest to her.
When she told her parents the truth, both Tracy Barlow and Steve McDonald were ready to face hefty legal fees to support her but Amy ended up convincing herself she hadn’t been raped.

Amy was unable to escape the truth and, when she was sent to hospital after drowning her sorrows, she confronted Aaron and stuck to her own version of events.
This eventually led to Aaron realising what he had done once Abi Webster got involved and he decided to leave the cobbles once and for all.
But how will Amy ever overcome her rape trauma?
Coronation Street airs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV.
