I’m 37 but people think I look a decade younger – they want me to say I use Botox but I like a natural ‘filler’ instead
SHE might be pushing 40, but people are blown away by one ageless woman’s skincare secret.
No Botox was needed in her beauty routine.
One fan even thought she looked more than a decade younger.
“I’m going to answer all your questions around PRP, PRF, what I’ve done, what I haven’t done, what I’m doing now, all that,” said Stef (@get_wavy).
According to the Hospital for Special Surgery, platelet-rich plasma therapy is a form of regenerative medicine that harnesses and amplifies the natural growth factors found in our blood cells.
This helps to heal damaged tissue.
PRF injections work similarly to platelet-rich plasma injections, but provide longer-lasting results.
Stef wanted to start off by setting the record straight.
“No, I do not use Botox. I’ve used it before in the past, maybe two years ago. But I don’t have Botox, I don’t,” she said as she scrunched up her face to show that she still had wrinkles.
She was owing her age and just wanted to look like herself – only better.
“I’m trying to have the best 37-year-old skin I can. Not 22-year-old skin, okay? There’s a difference,” she explained.
Stef also shut down rumors that she had a lip lift.
The anti-aging guru gave a close-up of her perfect pout and said she just does this one trick: overlining her lips.
The skincare sorceress and meditation lover explained that she has received a ton of hate for outlining her beauty routine.
Haters just going to hate on what they deem to be too good to be true.
Stef showed her natural – Botox free – skin that she said was covered in nothing but BB cream for a breakout, a cream blush, and a cream highlighter.
Forget the trolls – she had already inspired many fans with her filler free lifestyle.
“After seeing your videos I decided to stop using fillers. Don’t stop with your great content because of the haters, please!” said one encouraged follower.
“Wow that’s great! Thank you!” she replied.
After getting juvaderm seven years ago that would not go away, Stef opted to do a couple of rounds of filler dissolver on her under eyes.
“What I do now is I do PRP and PRF,” she said of the treatments she’s used religiously over the past five years.
She also stopped using sculpture, a collagen producer which she said can create lumps and scar tissue.
Step described how the process works.
“Choose your own plasma – they take your blood, they put it through a centrifuge. They extract a plasma out of it and that’s a growth factor, it’s like your own personal serum.”
The ageless beauty expert described how she then puts the plasma all over her face including on her temples, her under eyes, and her cheeks, as well as her laugh lines and marionette lines.
“I can do facial balancing. I’m trying to maintain my facial fat so that it looks pretty even. I don’t have any harsh shadows, no harsh lines, no wrinkles, nothing.”
Aside from wanting to look like her best self, Stef said she was also keeping up with her skincare routine for a more serious reason – to combat ageism in the tech industry in which she worked.
“I’m trying to extend my years in the workforce as long as possible. So as f*****g terrible as that sounds – that sounds like very depressing – but it’s true,” she said.
She also reflected on how she was unable to dissolve her lip filler from five years ago.
“It’s kind of like pretty flat now.”
Still, she was leaving her lips alone as she described the dangers of dissolving filler – which she said included melting your face off.
Her solution was to eventually do PRP on top of it to generate her own collagen.
She showed some before and after pictures of others who have used PRP and PRF as part of their more natural beauty enhancements.
The differences were definitely clear.
She said: “So as you can see, it basically fills in like a filler. You don’t have to use filler.”
Stef also warned that using plasma wasn’t for those looking for a short term skincare fix.
“It’s a long game guys, though. It’s your own body producing collagen. When you inject PRP or PRF, it’s going to be puffy and cute for like two days maybe and then it’s going to flatten back down.”
After that, your body is still going to take time to generate collagen.
Your age is also going to determine the length of the process and amount of treatments required.
Stef, who said that most people need two treatments, advises others to start their PRF process rather young.
She herself delved into the beauty treatment at 29 – and eight years later, she is still aging backwards.
“You can probably even skip a year. But the older you get, the more treatments you’ll need because of more collagen and you’ll have to keep working to build every single time.”
One thing was for sure – she was looking as fresh faced as ever.
This curious viewer had a question for the beauty guru: “Do you think PRP can make a noticeable difference in smile lines?”
“Yes! It’ll take about three treatments though. And definitely use PRF instead of PRP!”
Halcyon Dermatology explains PRP as a natural filler treatment that gives a more youthful appearance to the skin with minimal downtime.
There are virtually no risks of allergies or sensitivity as PRP is derived from your own blood.
