We didn’t want to pay for a pricey flat so moved onto a boat – it’s 80 per cent cheaper – we love going wherever we want
WITH house and rent prices being sky-high many people are looking for creative new ways to save money.
One couple revealed how they decided to buy a boat instead, and it’s 80 per cent cheaper than a flat.
The couple shared photos of their floating tiny home and answered questions about their thrifty lifestyle on their @project_jolene account.
They wrote: “Ever wondered what it is like to live on a canal boat?
“Us too, so we bought one.
“They cost 20 per cent of what a one bedroom apartment costs in London these days.”
Buying the boat was a leap of faith for the adventurous pair, especially as they admitted they had “never driven one before.”
They continued: “You can either rent a mooring or live for free as long as you move every two weeks.
“They’re surprisingly spacious inside.”
The boat owners shared how theirs is 12ft wide and includes “a full alarm system and cameras on board” for safety.
They do have central heating, but also heat the boat with a cosy stove fire during winter.
The couple insist that you can’t beat the morning views when you wake up and the boat feels like a normal home inside.
Post arrives at a PO box and they get power from solar panels on top of the boat.
Many people were impressed with their money-saving home, and their video has racked up over 112,000 likes.
One person wrote: “The best canal boat interior I’ve ever seen!”
Another added: “This is beautiful, I’m obsessed.”
A third commented: “Ok I’m sold.”
