Call the Midwife bosses send BBC fans into frenzy with ‘last week of filming’ post
CALL the Midwife bosses have sent fans into a frenzy by revealing that filming for the next series is nearly finished.
The BBC period drama’s official Instagram page earlier this week confirmed that filming for series 13 is nearly complete.
The fan-favourite BBC series shared a super sweet post of its younger cast members who play the Tuner children in the show. They are in the middle of filming in the Parish Hall and are up on the stage surrounded by balloons.
The picture is certainly fitting for celebratory news, as Call the Midwife bosses used this picture to announce that filming was coming to an end.
“Pssst! Heard the news? It’s the last week of filming on Call the Midwife Series 13!!” the Instagram post began.
It continued: “We snatched this gorgeous pic of the Turner children in their late-sixties finery to mark the very last week of this year’s filming!
We love seeing Alice (Angela) sharing a secret joke with April (May) while a curious Ned (Teddy) looks on! The Turner children are actually SUCH good friends on set, and always look out for each other, much to the pride of their fake parents Stephen McGann and Laura Main! It was their last day on set, so there was much fun, and many hugs.
“They were taking part in a rather lovely sequence for episode 8… But of course, you’ll have to wait to find out what that is,” the post teased in conclusion, adding that the new series will premiere next year after this year’s Christmas special.
This exciting update on the state of Call the Midwife immediately worked fans up into a frenzy and they flooded the comment section of the post in excitement.
Celebrating, one fan wrote: “So excited for a new season!!”
“Congrats!! I can’t wait to watch it, and of course I’ll be tuning in for the special next month,” added another.
A third fan said: “So love this show and all who help put it together for our viewing pleasure… Great job and look forward to watching Season 13.”
While a fourth commented: “How tall is teddy now oh my gosh?! They grow up so fast!!”
Thrilled that Call the Midwife will be back on the small screen soon, a fifth fan added: “Can’t wait – love this show.”
“One of the best shows ever made,” gushed a sixth.
“Not long now, cannot wait. Christmas Day wouldn’t be the same [without it]. It’s feet up after a family day and my little hour!” a seventh fan added happily.
“Can’t wait for my favourite programme on TV and at Christmas,” said another.
Not too much is known about the content of the upcoming season yet, but a previous Instagram post from the show did reveal that Fred Buckle (played by Cliff Parisi) will be taking it upon himself to put on a firework display for the Poplar district.
Additionally, star Jenny Agutter, who plays Sister Julienne, teased a little of what viewers can expect in the upcoming Christmas special.
“I can tell you it’s a very, very busy time at Nonnatus house. I have a very busy time,” she revealed on Good Morning Britain.
“It’s a year where there’s a lot of snow and ice and I get into a situation where I help with a birth in an ambulance on the way to the hospital because we get stuck on the way to the hospital.
“And more than one baby arrives, and I’m not going to give away much more,” Jenny teased.
Alongside Cliff and Jenny, the festive special will see Helen George and Olly Rix returning as newlyweds Matthew Aylward and Trixie Franklin, alongside Linda Bassett as Nurse Phyllis Crane, Georgie Glen as Miss Higgins, Judy Parfitt as Sister Monica Joan and newcomer Rebecca Gethings as Sister Veronica,
Megan Cusack will also be returning as Nurse Nancy Corrigan, along with Stephen McGann as Doctor Turner, Laura Main as Shelagh Turner and Max Macmillan as their son Timothy Turner.
Alice Brown is back as Angela Turner, April Rae Hoang as May Tang and Edward Shaw as Teddy Turner, Annabelle Apsion as Violet Buckle, Daniel Laurie as Reggie Jackson and Zephryn Taitte as Cyril Robinson.
The Call The Midwife Christmas Special will air on BBC One on Christmas Day. Series 13 will premiere next year.
