Coronation Street’s Claire Sweeney reveals painful Dancing on Ice injury after co-star Amber Davies suffers accident
CORONATION Street’s Claire Sweeney has revealed she’s had a painful Dancing on Ice injury after her co-star Amber Davies also suffered a nasty accident.
The soap actress is one of the celebs taking part in the skating show next year, but things haven’t been going smoothly for her.
Claire Sweeney has given fans an inside look into her training experience ahead of the show’s debut, and it’s clear that it’s not all glitz and glamour.
In a surprising revelation, she has shared that she’s already suffered an injury in just the first week.
The star said “training is exhausting” and admitted that she has already hurt her wrist.
She told The Sun exclusively: “My first session I hurt my wrist, otherwise I’m okay at the moment.”
Claire also admitted that her biggest hurdle on the show has been conquering the fear that grips her every time she steps onto the ice rink.
She added: “The biggest challenge is fighting the fear when it gets a grip of you, that’s what happens to me. I can do stuff and then suddenly fear just grips me when it’s least expected, it’s horrible and then I’ve got to try and shake it off and carry on.
“We’re getting there with lifts, we’re getting there with everything very slowly.
The actress also admitted that she is “two weeks behind” because she had a “massive storyline in Corrie”.
Claire continued: “I’m like two weeks behind everybody because I had a massive storyline in Corrie, I just did a few hours the week before. So I’m behind, I’m playing catch-up.
“I’m with Colin, who did The Vivienne last year, he’s amazing, he’s kind, he’s relentless though. I mean there’s none of this chatting and getting a little break – it’s bang, bang, bang, bang, bang. I don’t mind though, I’m a hard worker.
When asked who her biggest competition is, Claire said, Ryan Thomas, Greg Rutherford, and Miles Nazaire.
She confessed that she believes that those are the frontrunners in the show.
Claire said: “Ryan Thomas, Greg Rutherford and Miles Nazaire are streets ahead, they’re really really good. But you’ve just got to do your own journey. Those three are one to watch.”
The 52-year-old was announced as the show’s second signing.
Claire famously presented 60 Minute Makeover from 2004 to 2006, which saw viewers’ homes transformed in an hour.
This revelation comes right after her co-star, Amber Davies, also endured a nasty accident on the show.
The former Love Island star took to Instagram to issue an urgent update to her fans as she revealed that she tore a vital muscle.
Amber, 27, took to social media as she revealed that she has suffered a muscle injury.
The West End star is currently starring in a UK touring production of the Pretty Woman Musical.
She plays Vivian Ward in the stage show, a role made famous by actress Julia Roberts in the 1990 film alongside Richard Gere.
However the reality star issued an update to her fans on her Instagram as she admitted that she tore her Quad muscle.
