Casualty boss confirms fate of beloved character as exit rumours swirl ahead of show’s return
CASUALTY bosses have finally set the record straight on whether or not a fan favourite character is leaving the soap after weeks of speculation.
Social media had run wild with claims that the character, Dr. Stevie Nash, played by Elinor Lawless, would be waving goodbye to the medical drama when it eventually returns.

Many fans had been left worried that fan favourite Stevie might not be returning to the show after the break but show bosses have officially shot down the rumours.
Producers shared a statement to X – formerly Twitter – that Elinor would be firmly remaining with the show.
BBC chiefs said: “Don’t believe the rumours! Dr Stevie Nash isn’t going anywhere We love you @elinor_lawless.”
The confirmation sent Casualty fans wild as they expressed their excitement that Stevie would be continuing on at Holby.
Writing underneath the post, one fan said: “I clearly missed something…what rumours?? But WOOP WOOP glad they’re not true.”
Another added: “Glad to hear it, Casualty wouldn’t be the same without Doctor Nash & her sidekick nurse Cadogan.”
A third penned: “Yay – best news i’ve heard for a while!! was getting worried there for a moment.”
Before a fourth wrote: “Thank goodness!!! I was so sad because she’s my absolute favourite. Glad she’s staying.”
The BBC previously shared a clip paying tribute to Stevie’s close friendship with Faith on the show which sparked rumours of what was to come.
Casualty launched in 1986 and is now the world’s longest-running medical drama.
It started as a 15-part series and eventually hit 48 episodes a year.
Aside from during Covid, the last time it was as short as the latest 36-part series was in 2000.
Actor Derek Thompson, who plays nurse Charlie Fairhead, has been in the show since the first episode but will leave in 2024.
