We tested micellar water at all price points – one of them is a must-have for party season
WITH Christmas parties and late nights coming up, our faces can often pay the price if we don’t remove our make up properly.
Micellar water can be a great solution – I put three to the test . . .
Budget
GARNIER Micellar Gentle Peeling Water 1% PHA & Glycolic Acid, 400ml (£7.99, superdrug.com): New from Garnier, this is said to remove make-up and deeply cleanse skin of invisible dirt, SPF and pollution while gently exfoliating to smooth uneven texture and leave skin glowing.
Sadly I didn’t fall in love with this – it just didn’t remove my make-up properly, and didn’t touch my mascara.
It left my dry skin feeling even more parched.
Not one for dry or sensitive skin – stick to the original Garnier micellar water.
Mid-range
Bioderma’s Sensibio H2O Micellar Water claims to cleanse 99 per cent of make-up and remove pollutant particles and pollen[/caption]BIODERMA Sensibio H2O Micellar Water, 250ml, (£8.80 – was £11 – boots.com): This French pharma brand pioneered the micellar cleansing category in the Nineties with the launch of the first ever micellar water, Sensibio H2O.
It claims to cleanse 99 per cent of make-up and remove pollutant particles and pollen.
It is developed specifically for sensitive skin and contains glycerides which keep water locked in.
It is also fragrance and alcohol-free.
I liked this. It wasn’t drying, it didn’t leave a residue and removed a lot of make-up and grime from my face.
The only downside is that it took a good few attempts – and a decent rub – to get rid of my mascara.
Luxury
Guinot’s Eau Demaquillante Micellaire is described as a three-in-one instant cleanser, toner and eye make-up remover for all skin types[/caption]GUINOT Eau Demaquillante Micellaire, 200ml (£31, guinotshop.co.uk): Guinot is the number one professional skincare brand in France and this comes with a top-notch price.
It is described as a three-in-one instant cleanser, toner and eye make-up remover for all skin types.
Thanks to white lily bulb extract, it has a beautiful, fresh natural smell.
It seemed to instantly soak into the cotton wool then removed everything on my face, including mascara, with the lightest of swipes.
My skin felt hydrated afterwards.
My favourite. Shame about the price.
