My six-year-old wasn’t allowed to wear nail varnish at school so I sent her to a new one – now she gets gel manis weekly
A MUM has sparked a fierce debate after revealing that she switched her six-year-old’s school because she wasn’t allowed to wear nail varnish.
Noel is a single mum, and is pregnant with her second child.
But it was her treatment of daughter Giada that sparked controversy, as she shared a video on TikTok of her little girl at the salon.
“My daughter couldn’t wear nail polish at her old school so I switched her school and now she gets a gel manicure once a week,” Noel wrote over the top of the video.
“I’m THAT mum,” she added in the caption.
But people in the comments section were divided by Noel’s actions, with many slamming her.
“This is literally crazy,” one wrote.
“You should teach kids other things than aesthetics,” another insisted.
“Wow. What a poor example you’re setting at a young age,” a third blasted.
“I hope you care that much about her education as you do her appearance!”
“Ehm.. congrats I guess. Now she can be shallow from the very start,” someone else wrote.
As another commented: “What a sad, sad tale…”
“…lol this is not a flex that you’re putting appearance over education..” someone else wrote.
To which Noel replied: “Her education is always put first and the education at her old school was also TRASH.”
“Gel is pushing it it’s so bad for her at such a young age,” another insisted.
With Noel responding: “Good thing she’s not your kid!”
As someone else commented: “I know her nails gonna be paper thin with gel every week”.
“Just say you’re jealous of a 6 year old … i’ll wait,” Noel hit back.
But others were more on board with Noel’s decision to allow her daughter weekly gel manicures.
“For all the haters.. it’s not prioritizing appearance.. it’s prioritizing EXPRESSING HERSELF,” one wrote.
“A bit curious how you did that, did you specifically ask the new school if they allow it?” another asked.
“Such a funny requirement!”
“No, I took her out of catholic school and this was 1 of MANY reasons – no 6 year old or any kid should be treated the way they treat kids,” Noel replied.
“People always gotta hate!” a third commented.
“Good job mama, love your relationship!”
“These ppl think I care about anything they say!” Noel replied.
“It’s a sin but thank you queen!”
“The way you’re building up such a confident little lady,” someone else praised.
“At her age my mum took me to get my nails done,” another wrote.
“It’s a form of self care!”
“Is she feeling happier at a new school?” someone else asked.
“Hope her adjustment is going okay!”
“I wanna see her nails!” another wrote.
“She should get Xmas designs”.
“She got blue with a Grinch sticker,” Noel replied.
