Grand Designs fans ‘boycott’ show and rip into Kevin McCloud for ‘waste of time’ episodes with ’40 minutes of filler’
GRAND Designs fans have slammed Kevin McCloud after he posted a video of himself promoting an upcoming episode on his Instagram page.
Show fans expressed that they would be ‘skipping’ the episode, where the presenter gets to see the final product of the home renovations.
The 64 year old posed in front of a farm fence, looking warm and comfy as he shared the news that he would be revisiting another couple in a new Grand Designs installment.
He captioned the post: “Back in 2019, we met Olaf and Fritha, who had lofty ambitions for their tiny triangular plot.
“Has life in their hand-built timber box worked out for them?
“Join Kevin for the last show of the series on @channel4, at 9pm.”
Fans were quick to fire back in the comments at how unimpressed they were about the upcoming throwback episodes.
One fan replied: “I’ll be skipping right to the end like I’ve done with nearly all of the episodes this series due to them being repeats.”
A second penned: “ Another revisited episode, waste of time when will we see completed new projects?!”
Another user echoed: “Another 40 mins of filler for 7 mins content.”
However, other eager fans of the show displayed their excitement at the episodes that revisit familiar faces, with one gushing: “Intriguing, this sounds like the script from a high rating film; can’t wait to see the bus and this house.”
Another followed: “Beautiful people. One of the best episodes ever.”
In one of the repeat episodes aired last week, the property renovator revisited one of the homes he once slammed on the show, but he was left gobsmacked after seeing how Leigh and Richard from Derbyshire had transformed the house into a home.
During the episode, the Channel 4 host went to check on the progress of the couple’s 17th-century Cornish flour mill and was impressed by the sight of the refurbished home.
In 2021, Leigh and Richard appeared on the programme and shared with the host that it was their dream to convert the abandoned mill into a modern three-bed home with a budget of £250,000 and a 12-month timeframe to complete the mission.
With the help of traditional artisans to restore the exterior, which was rotting away, they soon decided to get stuck into the house building themselves.
Kevin also recebntly revealed to New Zealand media outlet Stuff that he cannot seem to keep the tradesmen on his show for long because he is ‘fussy’ and that ‘finding good people is hard’.
He also disclosed that two show stars sadly passed while filming ‘very difficult’ projects.
Grand Designs airs on Channel 4 tonight at 9pm
