The Chase fans rip into ‘shameful’ contestant after pulling seriously shady tactic ‘for the sake of the team’
The Chase fans were left horrified after a contestant on the show chose a £0 offer from the Chaser.
Viewers expressed their disbelief as the player chose a humiliating offer in a bid to survive her elimination round.
After Tuesday’s instalment of ITV‘s quiz show The Chase, presented by Bradley Walsh, viewers took to X(Twitter) and reacted after contestant Betty accepted a £0 offer from Chaser Paul “Sinnerman” Sinha.
One fan fumed: “Zero is close to 2k f***ing hell #TheChase.”
Another raged: “The Chase, omfg if they win, don’t give her any, can’t believe she’s gone with £0.”
A third chimed: “Low offer muppet #TheChase.”
A fourth echoed: “’Zero isn’t a lot different to £2k’ God, I hope he doesn’t control finances in his career #TheChase.”
Other fans blamed the Chaser for encouraging the woman to take the offer that he put on the table as one wrote: “Chasers who give £0 as a low offer are the f****ing worst #thechase.”
But another viewer disagreed and claimed: “I think at this point taking the £0 is the best thing to do. #thechase.”
During the episode, chaser Paul decided to make Betty’s decision hard by offering her £0 following a cash builder in which she achieved £3,000
The contestant’s previous two teammates earned an extra £1,000 and advised her to take The Sinnerman’s unimpressive offer.
Betty expressed to the ITV show host that she planned to go with the best offer so that she could return to her team.
Bradley told her: “Let’s put some money on the table… low offer, please.”
Paul immediately responded, “Nothing”, to which Bradley fired back “Great, perfect… High offer, please,”
Announcing it loudly, Paul said: “£52,000.”
Bradley then advised the young woman to confirm with her teammates as he turned to them and asked: “Gary, what do you reckon?”
Gary replied: “Zero’s not a lot different to two.”
“And getting an extra life in the Final Chase…”
The TV personality agreed: “Absolutely sound advice, that.”
He then turned to Betty’s second teammate, Lucie, who responded: “We’re a team – we want you back, if you want to take the zero, you take it.”
The contestants other teammate Sam then chimed: “The difference between two and zero’s not much.”
Trying to reason with herself, Betty eventually decided: “If all four of us get back, that’s only £500 each difference [with the zero offer].
“And we’re a team… so I’m going to take the zero.”
Bradley concluded, “Good for you”, with Paul adding, “I think that’s the sensible one.”
Most recently, Paul, a staple of the ITV quiz hit since 2011, has dispelled speculation and rumour that the stars on the celeb spin-offs charity specials get an ‘easy ride’ while on the show.
The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
