I’m married to my step-brother – people say our marriage is a ‘train wreck’ but we’ve done nothing wrong
IT is often said that no matter what, love will find a way – although this couple’s story is admittedly pretty unusual.
Whilst her relationship began like many other couples, Lindsay Brown eventually went on to marry her stepbrother and have children with him.
Lindsay says she doesn’t care about what people think[/caption] The influencer and her husband Cade met as teens[/caption]As you might expect, their love story has many twists and turns with the trainer later devoting her entire Tiktok to this fact.
Better known as @girl_meets_bro, the mum has amassed over 56,00 likes on Tiktok about her and husband Cade’s relationship – which began when they were just 14.
Even in those early years, the then-teens were besotted with each other and her future spouse would even sneak in to her home late at night.
Of course, the pair were eventually caught by Lindsay’s mum and were banned from seeing each other.
However, they would reconnect years later over social media and quickly recoupled.
With their on again off again relationship becoming a major concern for Lindsay’s mum, she eventually confronted Cade’s dad, Rusty, about the issue.
“They were just acquaintances really,” explained Lindsay, adding: “Everything kind of started to come to ahead around that time.”
Though this should have put an end to things, the meeting would ultimately spark another relationship though.
Unsure of her path in life, the influencer joined the Air Force and moved to Texas leaving Cade behind.
Though she claims it strengthened their relationship, their distance allowed their parents to also become increasingly closer as well.
Eventually, Lindsay and Cade would marry in 2014 – only for the content creator’s mother and her father-in-law to also tie the knot a few years later.
Whilst it might be one knotty family tree, it doesn’t seem to bother Lindsay – who later joked: “So, no, our parent did not get married first. We did.”
Even with this revelation though, the couple have received an intense backlash online for their relationship.
After sharing their story on the app, they’ve been regularly targeted by trolls with cruel comments such as: “Oh this is an absolute train wreck waiting to happen. And I’m absolutely here for it.”
“So your kids will be your nephew and nieces in laws and your kids?” another confused user wrote.
A third quipped: “…all I can think but no disrespect [is] SWEET HOME ALABAMA”
Others have been more accepting of Lindsay and Cade’s relationship, saying: “As long as y’all were together before they were it’s not as bad as it sound.”
A fourth even revealed that they’d had a similar situation, writing: “We are in the same situation! We married then our parents married 3 years later.”
To which, Lindsay replied: “It happens more than people would think! Glad I’m not alone!!!”
It seems fate really does bring people together in the strangest ways!
