Tottenham vs Everton betting preview
When Everton were docked 10 points, there was a lot of talk about it creating a siege mentality and galvanising the squad.
Some felt that was clutching at straws and that the decision was actually the death-knell for the club.
Yet the response has, genuinely, been superb.
Having been dumped back into the relegation zone on November 17, six weeks on, they find themselves seven points clear of danger. Were they to get the points back – and they are appealing – they would currently be in the top half.
Their last four league games have all been won without conceding – you have to go back more than 20 years to find the last time they kept four successive clean sheets!
That run should be fully tested in north London on Saturday though.
Spurs have scored in 29 consecutive league games and, interestingly, their attack will be led by former Everton man Richarlison – here’s scored three times in his last two games, too.
The defence continues to be something of a concern though.
Last Friday at Forest was the first time Spurs had kept a clean sheet since losing Micky van de Ven to injury. Destiny Udogie will also be absent from the backline for this one due to suspension.
That will boost Everton’s chances, especially at set pieces where they’ve been particularly strong so far with only Arsenal matching their 10 goals scored from such situations.
In short, this match smacks of goals…

Tottenham vs Everton best bets

Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals
Including the Chelsea game where things really began to go wrong, Spurs have seen six of their seven games land this bet.
They’ve now scored in their last 29 matches and while Everton have been very solid of late, it’s hard to envisage the hosts not finding the net.
But they have also been vulnerable defensively – 23 goals conceded is the worst record in the top seven. Lowly Sheffield United have scored here, while Villa and West Ham both notched twice in recent weeks.
Back both teams to score and over 2.5 goals at 8/11 at Spreadex
Dwight McNeil to score or assist
McNeil has been in fine form for Everton of late and, given the absence of Abdoulaye Doucoure, he’ll be an even more important point of the Toffees’ attack in this one.
McNeil has scored two and assisted two in his last four league games, while he’s delivered on this wager in three of his six away matches in the campaign so far.
Spurs are still patching things up at the back where they remain without Micky van de Ven and also lose left-back Destiny Udogie for this one.
McNeil can help Everton take advantage.
Back McNeil to score or assist at 15/8 at bet365
Cristian Romero to be carded (BetUK)
We all love a conspiracy theory, right?
Well, Romero is one of a number of Premier League players a card away from suspension – and therefore getting a bit more time to rest the feet up this Christmas.
Ref Stuart Attwell is an above-average carder so should help a bet which has landed in five of the Argentine’s last nine appearances. And, his name is Cristian. What more do you want at Christmas?
Back Romero to be carded at 41/20 at BetUK
